From the manager: Hi Jayne,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review—we’re glad you found the shower and toilet facilities clean and appreciated having a level spot to camp on.
We’re sorry to hear the site didn’t quite meet your expectations in other areas. We aim to balance the natural setting with a relaxed camping layout, but we’ll definitely take your comments on spacing and upkeep as we continue to make improvements.
There is a bin and recycling area located next to the washing-up station, but we’ll look into how we can make signage and access clearer for future guests.
Thanks again for your visit, and we do appreciate your feedback.
Very convenient for an over night but a little hard to find

Liked Very friendly and lovely site where we camped
Disliked Look out for goose poo and they could do with checking for toilet roll more often

From the manager: Hi Kate,
Thank you for your kind words—so glad to hear you found the site friendly and enjoyed your overnight stay!
You're right that we're a little tucked away - Google Maps is the best bet for finding us directly, and we’re always looking at how we can improve signage where possible.
We’ve got two lovely families of geese on site this year—it's been great to see them around, though they are unfortunately leaving behind a little mess! We’re keeping an eye on it and doing our best to manage the impact.
Thanks as well for the note on toilet roll - we’ll make sure to stay on top of checks during busy times.
We’d love to welcome you back again soon - thanks again for camping with us!

Quiet area, with fishing lake (small) that you can walk around.
Unpowered grass caravan site
Liked Friendly and helpful staff member.
Smaller type site.
Disliked Only one shower per gender for the site, although no issues with waiting but could see there would be if the site was busy.
Only two female toilets, one urinal and one toilet for males, again no problems with waiting but if busy it could be a wait.
Not totally flat so need levelling ramps.

From the manager: Hi Andy,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review—great to hear you had a lovely visit!
Our main toilet block currently has two toilets (1 toilet and one urinal on the men's side) and a shower on each side. We usually bring in temporary toilets during peak season, but this year we’re opening a more permanent (and hopefully more welcoming!) seasonal toilet facility in the next couple of weeks. We're working hard to improve things as the site grows, especially for busier times.
From the title, it sounds like you found the upper lake—but just so you know for next time, we also have our main lake, the Boyd, at the bottom of the site. It's a 1.5-acre pond and a lovely spot to explore.
Looking forward to welcoming you back soon!

Very quiet and rural. A jewel in between Bristol and Bath
Unpowered grass tent site (backpacker, solo)
Liked Wonderful site. Was able to park my car next to my tent as the weather was dry. Car park close by if it’s boggy.
Quiet time of year so not many other guests and had my pick of where to pitch. I chose close to the upper large pond and it had a sturdy picnic table nearby.
I did see fire pits supplied dotted around.
Pitch was level and grass/trees/shrubs well maintained.
Plenty of birds and wildlife, so if you are ok with being woken early this is the place.
Car and walking track ample for the size of the site.
There looks to be work going on for a new fishing pond but there was no out of hours construction noise that I could tell.
Recycling and bin area with an ample washing up area and plenty of water taps around.
Shower and toilets were ok(ish)
I can’t comment on the fishing though as I wasn’t there for that. It did mean that there weren’t too many children on the site.
Nearby farm shop but nothing on-site.
Will definitely be back.

Not ideal for family camping or a quiet stay.
Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked Easy to find.
Disliked There were a lot of permanent caravans on the site, taking up a whole field that was advertised for camping. Facilities were not clean, rubbish bins overflowing. The site owner was in the filed right next to our tent using a digger until 8.30pm, very noisy all evening. Not ideal with young children. There was loud voices in the evening. We didn't feel welcome on the site.

From the manager: Hi Rebecca,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad you found the site easy to locate, but we’re sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet expectations.
We’re currently in the process of constructing a new lake, which has required significant work on-site. We understand that this may have caused some disturbance and we’re doing our best to manage the impact while improving the site for future guests.
With regard to the field and facilities, we’re sorry you felt let down. We do try to keep everything clean and tidy, and we’ll be reviewing our maintenance routines to ensure standards are upheld.
If anything ever feels off during your stay, please do pop over and say hello—we’re always happy to help and keen to make your time here as enjoyable as possible.
Warm regards,
BVL Management Team
