A peaceful, relaxing stay.

Aug 2026

Liked Peaceful, quiet location, spaces between pitches. Flat area. Nice hot water in showers.

Disliked Showers/toilets could do with a slight update. Old style toilets (with a long water flush) and push button taps where the water runs for a while. Whilst having a shower at night the light went out several times so I had to leave the cubicle and go back in so light would come back on. Paid for Wifi

Ok for a 2 night short stay in nice weather

July 2026

Liked The view and rustic charm . The live music on the Saturday night was a pleasant surprise. Good phone signal.

Disliked The showers weren't very good. The temperature was cold then warm and the shower head gave a very fine spray/mist, not ideal if you need to wash your hair but ok for a quick wash. The hard standing was in need of repair. Barking dogs from residents static caravans

From the manager: Glad you enjoyed the music and sunshine we are a special place Just to address the negatives .... Showers .... wish you had talked to me...had an electrician and plumber working on site all weekend some of which was addressing a recurring problem with the mens showers.... WHICH IS NOW SOLVED YAY Not sure re repairing a hard standing? ...would have been kinder to share the fact that we only disclose the measurements of the hard standing on the listing....and you in fact get at least 100% extra in grass area too in this sunny weather Yes barking dogs on the Sat...new tennant ...silly hot weather and her dogs barked whenever anyone walked past...thankfully they have settled in a little better now. All in all your review is fair if a little harsh and thank fully my regular guests accept my places lil imperfections and rejoice in the splendiferous nature of our rural little gem

Lovely flat and quiet site with level pitches

Oct 2020

Liked Secure entrance with barrier, lovely size hard standing pitch plus good free WiFi. The showers were very clean and heated with lovely hot water plus a free hairdryer. The site was very quiet at night with just the occasional hooting of owls. It’s very close to Abbotsbury and not far by car to Weymouth. Would stay here again.

Disliked The tv signal was very poor, sometimes only a few channels or none at all. This doesn’t bother us that much though as we tend to download films onto IPad or phone but if you like to watch tv it is something you might have to know about beforehand. Some on site had satellite dishes or outside aerials.

From the manager: we do have pitches with tv aerial connection and this does help, but we do have problems with interference in hot weather but this is only a summer problem

Great overnight stay in Adults only site.

Oct 2016

Liked A lovely green and flat site with good, clean facilities especially the shower block which is heated when the weather is cold. It's quiet and well kept. We are certainly planning a return trip as we were visiting friends who live in Bournemouth. I would have liked something between the pitches which defines the space, maybe low hedges that we have had on previous sites which offer a bit more privacy.

Disliked The approach is down a narrow lane which is full of pot holes, there are other sites that lead off the lane. This one is right at the end. Their boundary has Tarmac leading up to the entrance. I have been told that they are planning to Tarmac a bit more but they do not own the lane. It won't stop us visiting again but drive with caution and watch out for the unmarked speed bumps too

From the manager: Thank you for your great 9/10 review. Thank you also for your comments. We have but lots of planting between the rows of the pitches and stone boundary lines between the pitch to mark out all the sizes. Due to the size of the park we cant define each pitch with individual hedges as the maintenance required would be far too great especially on grass cutting etc. The approach road is a constant work in progress and we have improved it dramatically over the last three seasons. We will continue to work on it again this coming winter to make it even better for the 2017 season. Many thanks again.

In a quiet and beautiful countryside location.

July 2014

Liked This is a "tranquil" site, adults only so perfect for us! We wanted somewhere relaxing that wasn't far from home to try our newly purchased used trailer tent and this ticked all the boxes. It was booked at the last minute and only £29 for 2 nights on a flat camping pitch with no electric in the Summer season, very reasonable. The showers, though only 3 in the ladies, were very spacious (the biggest we have ever had) and clean and the toilets too with sinks etc and a hairdryer that costs 20p to use but does last quite a while. There is a good dish washing area beside the ladies and a pay phone outside the gents and next to reception a TV room with tables and chairs and a small larder freezer that is free to use for freezer packs etc and tea/coffee making facilities with an honesty pot to pay what you think is appropriate, a rarity these days. They sell small pots of delicious icecream made in Salcombe, much needed on a hot day! The recycling facilities are very impressive some of the best we have come across on a site, though some containers were very full! You are not allowed to use certain chemicals in your porta loo, only organic products due to their top rated sewage system that they have installed. They sell a recommended product at reception in 2 sizes, just over £3 for the small one so not expensive. There are lovely caravan pitches, which are in a separate area. There is a Spar shop/garage just down the road. The site is dog friendly too, many in the tents had dogs, there is a dog walking area provided. We were only woken by the sound of cows, sheep, birds and a hot air balloon (true!). We experienced lovely sunsets, starry skies, sunshine and conversations with camping enthusiasts of different ages, some of us have sold caravans and re discovered our love of camping! We visited Kingsbridge and Salcombe and plan to visit more places on our return visit!

Disliked Only a few niggles. There was a strong sewerage smell as you entered the camping field, which is just to the left of the showers etc, once you walk past it though it was ok and everyone was pitched past it so it didn't affect our stay. There is a minor road that is just the other side of the hedge of the camping site which used by tractors etc as it's in a farming community and there is some road noise but it's quiet at night and NOT like a motorway!
