Liked location as it was close to motorways
Disliked Let me first explain. This campsite was book solely because it was advertised as having an on site restaurant (which serves classic dishes like mussels and chips) and an outdoor swimming pool, and the write up on Pitchup made it sound amazing which for €40 we'd thought was acceptable.
We turned up only to find the reception closed however a young girl appeared and asked if I'd received an email that morning notifying me of the closure. We we then issued with a white envelope containing a key fob, security door card and two red wrist bands (apparently for the swimming pool). I was then also informed that the restaurant was closed, no explanation given. I asked where we could go, to which I was given the details of a restaurant: which we later discovered was also closed. On a site map we were shown being allocated pitch, 91. We have a 6m campervan and it just about fitted on the pitch length wise, although we had enough room on either side for chairs etc. On looking at the paperwork in the envelope we noticed on the typed instructions we'd actually been allocated pitch 156. So we thought we'd have a look to see if that was any better. No that had a mobile home on it already. So back to pitch 91.
Trying to stay positive we decided to use the pool. It wasn't quite what I would describe as a swimming pool more of a large inflatable paddling pool. The large inflatable ring around the edge occupied most of its footprint, it fitted onto a tennis court with a lot of room to spare (see attached photo). As it was already rather crowded we decided that we didn't fancy it anymore.
The security card for the showers wasn't required as all door were wide open.
We tried looking on the map for rubbish bins but couldn't find any highlighted, so after both of us had walked around looking we eventually gave up and used a small litter bin near the pool.
We've travelled all over Europe and the UK in our campervan and this was definitely a disappointment, massively over priced for what you got. All very disorganised.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed account of your stay. I would rather hear this than not hear it at all, so I want to answer you properly. One thing genuinely went wrong on our side. You were given two different pitch numbers, which sent you walking across the site twice at the end of a travel day. I have looked into how your pitch was allocated and I am sorry that happened. The restaurant we pointed you towards turned out to be closed as well, which only made a difficult evening longer. On the other points I would like to give a little context, mostly so other travellers know what to expect. Our outdoor pool is exactly as you see it in the photographs on our Pitchup listing. It is a family pool rather than a swimming pool, and we try hard not to present it as more than that. Our restaurant is closed on Thursdays, which was the day you arrived, and I understand how disappointing that is when a meal out is part of the plan. You were right about the menu description, and we have already contacted Pitchup to have the reference to mussels removed. We serve Belgian classics, but mussels have never been on our menu. The waste and recycling points are marked on the site map in the welcome pack, together with your pitch instructions. And because our reception closes in the evening and you arrived after that, the envelope with your key fob, access card and instructions was prepared and waiting for you. You clearly know what good camping looks like after all those miles across Europe, so I am sorry we did not show you our best side. If you are ever back in the Kempen, please get in touch with me directly beforehand and I will make sure your arrival goes very differently. Liked It's a very quite location.
Very easy to find using the details given on pitchup.
We were met by the host when we arrived, who gave us a very informative briefing on everything.
Electricity is metered so you only pay for what you use. For us that was approx 2 euros over the 2 nights
The showers are very good but there are only 2 of them accessed through the long barn.
There is a washing machine _ 5 Euros
A coffee machine - 1.50 Euros
It's clearly a working progress which when completed will be amazing as it will have more pitches around thw lake.
Personally we thought it was good value for money.

Liked Check in was brilliant. Got a full site tour from the rear of a buggy. Allowed to pick our own spot. Shower-lots of hot water, and toilets clean.
Disliked Wish I'd known prior to going to the toilet that I needed to take my own toilet paper. Also when washing up remember your own plug.

Liked Beautiful views. Facilities are good. Awesome walls nearby
Disliked We had no idea that everything would be closed on our arrival - sunday. The welcome pack (which we were emailed is written with only holiday chalets in mind) indicated they would be open. There were 3 washing machines only 1 worked, the information board above the washing machines stated they took various denominations however the working washing only took £1 coins. Our pitch T02 was unlevel in two directions, ramps made no difference. There is a massive generator near pitch T08 which is rather noisy. The whole of this campsite is designed around holiday chalets with a second thought given to campervans/mobile homes - to such an extent that several of the available park ups appear to be between chalets.
We tried calling and leaving messages on the 2 contact numbers given but to no avail. Eventually calling the emergency number.
I think customer service comes as a second thought as when I enquired about obtaining change for the machines the reply given was "you'll have to go in to Fishguard for that"
All dustbin were overflowing and both toilet blocks weren't particularly clean

Liked Very spacious and quite.
Disliked Just 2 showers for such a huge site. The kitchen block was clean but the floor felt like it was going to collapse at any stage due to water leaking. Sadly the site dosn't give the best impression. You driven through a lot of caravans and mobile homes which are clearly being stored. However many look abandoned.

Liked The pub and surrounding area are lovely. Plenty of hot water in the shower
Disliked They are clearly undertaking some serious renovations. However currently the washing block is uni sex, with only two showers and one toilet. Nothing was clean and in the time we were there the toilet was dirty and there was no toilet paper. You might not think this was to bad but the night we stayed there were five other campervans and most of lodges were occupied. Not enough facilities. No where to wash your pots and pans unless you used the only sink in the washing block
