The perfect site?!!

Sept 2026

Liked We have stayed here four times this year with different groups of friends and family! That should speak for itself but if not... It's a lovely peaceful site, very quiet. The pitches are mown very cleverly so there are small pitches for a small tent and car, or small camper; medium pitches where small groups can stay, and bigger ones where two or three families can camp together. The owners are very friendly and helpful (the family who owns the farm, usually Dad and daughter are on site running the camping). The toilet block is kept spick and span and the showers are great. The washing up water is hot. There is a freezer for ice blocks, and a coffee kiosk with good coffee and also very reasonably priced pastries (plus soup, sausage rolls). We loved being able to send the children up with a bank card to order our breakfast! We never had any problems with noise on any of our trips, everything is very quiet by 9 and silent before 10. The location is great and there are some great pubs nearby, we also love to visit Cow common in Chilbolton to go for a paddle. The night sky on a clear night with no moon is something to behold as well. Definitely a favourite site and we will certainly be returning next year.

Great friendly site in stunning countryside

May 2026

Liked This campsite is in a beautiful peaceful location, with hills all around, the drive down into it is stunning. Toilets, showers and washing up facilities were nice and clean, and there were plenty of them, spread across two blocks one at each end of the site which meant no one has to walk too far. The closest pub (white horse inn) is very close and there is a footpath taking you there so no need to drive (pub is highly recommended by the way but I suggest booking at the weekends). There is a lake on site where you can use paddle boards and they had a clever rental scheme for SUPs and kayaks which we’d definitely try if we came again. There is a cafe by the lake which has options for breakfast and lunch, hot drinks etc. The waffles were delicious. We stayed in one of their ready pitched bell tents which was excellent - new this year we were told. The warden was very friendly but I have no doubt she could enforce the rules if needed. Actually the site quietened down relatively early both Sat and Sunday night so it was a peaceful weekend. Would definitely try and come back. Thanks!

Disliked Nothing!

Great family site, well looked after!

July 2025

Liked Friendly wardens who came round a couple of times a day. Noise was kept down in the evenings - there is a play park on site, our children were booted out of the park at the required time (9pm I think) :-) (kids were annoyed but we were fine with it of course and glad that they were firm with them!) The new toilets / showers hadn’t been finished yet but the existing ones were fine- old, but kept very clean. Electric showers were lovely. Washing up facilities plentiful. Water points dotted around. Site very clean and tidy. Pitches an ok size. It wasn’t super busy when we were there but I don’t think I’d come in peak time, just personal preference. Our kids loved the dedicated football field to play on. We had even more space as the site wasn’t full so the camping field next to us was empty too. The ANPR bollard was reassuring for safety.

Disliked First- these are all minor things! More to be aware of than to put you off. Very little shade in most of the fields; be aware if you’re there in a heatwave. A long walk from our pitch in birch field to the toilets. Our youngest kids are a bit young to go on their own so we got a lot of steps in! They’re too big to use a potty now but definitely suggest that option for families with smaller kids. Minor problem really though. Logs £15 a bag which I felt was a bit high - we were worried about the quality as it was chopped up bits of tree rather than split logs but it burned fine so must’ve been properly seasoned, no problem there.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review. We're pleased you found the wardens friendly and the site well looked after, clean, and great for families. We're delighted your children enjoyed the play park and games field. Thank you for understanding that we close the playground at dusk, for safety reasons, and to create a peaceful ambiance on the campsite in the evening. Although there are hundreds of trees bordering the camping fields, we don't have many in the camping fields as the majority of our customers ask not to be in the shade. However, this year has been unprecedented, with three heatwaves in a row, so it's definitely worth bringing a gazebo when its that hot. The toilets are between 80 and 200m from the pitches but it's a good idea to bring a potty or camping toilet if you think you might need one. We sell large bags of seasoned logs with kindling and natural firelighters for £15. Customers love the convenience of buying them onsite but are welcome to bring their own too. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Great! clean; flat; family friendly site.

Aug 2023

Liked Nice quiet site with mostly family groups and couples. Toilets and showers really good. Washing up area was large and covered which was great, plus washing up liquid supplied (toilet paper is not provided which was only a minor inconvenience, to remember it each time!) We really appreciated not having cars on the pitches - I was a bit wary when I heard this as we tend to use our car as storage but it wasn’t far at all and sturdy trolleys are provided. We had a lot of rain which is when we usually need that dry storage but it was fine. The field is nice and flat, it’s a long rectangle mown into wide strips going down the long length. The mown strips are maybe 8m wide and are divided by unmown strips of 2m which gives good separation without marked pitches. The owners limit the number of bookings taken, which means there is plenty of space- great for cricket and football without disrupting anyone else. They prefer you not to pitch right across the mown strip so they can access the whole site. Just worth noting that if you are camping in a group of more than 2 families with big tents, they end up having to be pitched in a line rather than grouped around a central area. We were 3 families but it wasn’t really a problem to do this. Would come back again.
