Pitches not fit for purpose

Aug 2026

Liked The nearby fields behind the site for a country walk.

Disliked The particular2 EHU pitches we booked were not suitable at all for renting out. The ground cover was sand and small pieces of rubber along side pieces of rubble. This made it pretty pointless putting pegs in to hold the awning down (due to the windy conditions) as they simply came straight out, pegs don’t hold if put in to sand, not sure how the owner thought they would? Due to the extreme dry conditions this year , many sites have banned bbqs, understandably, but we saw no nearby signs saying this, so we both lit them up (off the ground bbqs I hasten to add) ready to cook dinner, it then started to rain. Taking this into account, the owner came over to say that we couldn’t bbq because of the fire risk and signs were up giving this information. It turns out that the sign is on the toilet block door (having our own facilities, we didn’t visit the block to see this,) and the other sign was apparently on the back of the notice board as you enter the site so again not really that visible unless you physically got out of the camper to read the back of the notice board??? We argued are case that 1. It was raining and pretty unlikely that anything would catch fire in those conditions and 2. Even if the embers did unlikely drift, there was absolutely no grass let alone dry grass to catch fire. We are grown adults and use bbqs sensibly on many many occasions and we have never had a near miss accident dealing with them. I strongly advise that the owner address these 2 particular pitches for future bookings so they can be worth using because as they are, they are not fit for purpose. We felt cheated of the substandard conditions we had to pitch our vehicles on, also the 2 pitches were not clearly marked out resulting in my daughter struggling to get her van in a space which she thought was a pitch, but it turned out to be a marked off area where she was not supposed to be parked, but the owner actually watched her park there and spoke to her about an unconnected thing , and didn’t tell her that she was wrongly parked??? We won’t visit again and won’t recommend to others either, there are many points to improve here and we are regular campers to other sites so we know what we should be getting for our money.

From the manager: Oh, where to begin with this review response? Firstly these two hook up pitches are new this summer, but we have already had return guests to them, with others reviewing them at 10/10. They are on sand, with a little grass in places (not much after the summer we've just endured); indeed the pitch description states that they are on sand. To then complain that the pitch is exactly as described seems disingenuous, and perhaps purely there in an attempt to justify the complaint. Indeed these guests did have (as have several others in this location) awnings up, that also stayed up despite "the windy conditions". After 5 months of extremely hot and dry conditions, and only days after the national alert from the government about bbqs, one or two short showers (which is all we'd had at that point) could not begin to overcome the extreme dry of i) the overhanging trees, under which they'd decided to light their bbq; ii) the stubble fields that surround our site; iii) the surrounding hedgerow; iv) the adjacent timber cabin as well as other nearby buildings. Just one ember taken away in the breeze could have set off everything. The coverage in the media of local, national and international wildfires must have bypassed this camper. The massive irresponsibility to put my livelihood, my (and others) homes at risk for the sake of a couple of sausages is beyond my comprehension. They then (as they state in the review) became argumentative about why they should be allowed to have a bbq. It was raining when I came down to ask them to douse their fire, but it clearly hadn't been when they started, they were just grabbing brollies when I came to see them. So despite the obvious, and they clearly had seen the signs and used the facilities (I didn't point the signs out to them, so for them to state in their review where they are means that they must have both seen and read them) they were determined to carry on with their bbq. The pitches are marked with a sign saying "Camper Van Parking Only", with an arrow pointing at the two spots. Indeed I spoke to the daughter driving the other campervan as she had arrived earlier, and I physically pointed to the two places so that she could choose which one she wanted, and which she would leave for her parents. When she chose to pitch up to the side of one of the pitches, I assumed it was so that the group could be adjacent to one another. It didn't matter to us, and as they had booked both pitches in that location it wasn't bothering anyone else, so I left them to it. Clearly this review is written out of spite because I had the audacity to pull them up on lighting up a bbq despite the clear and obvious risks of doing so. As for saying that they won't return, well, they won't be missed! Please do read our other reviews to get the true picture of our site.

Excellent site, location great and friendly family run site.

Aug 2023

Liked We stayed here for 3 nights to attend the British super bike event at Cadwell Park and was a perfect location for the short journey to the circuit. The owners were lovely, a real family feel about the place and were only too happy to assist with any questions etc we had. We would definitely stay there again and also recommend it to our family and friends. A real little gem that we’ll keep details handy for the future to visit.

Good location for motorbiking roads, poor quality facilities.

July 2022

Liked We liked the location of the site to one of the best motor biking roads in Wales, also a short walk into town where there are plenty of shops and eating places.

Disliked The facilities in general were very ‘tired’ with urgent need of updating. The gents only had 2 cubicles which is not sufficient for the size of the site and the building in general was very basic and outdated. After staying on other sites through out the week in Wales and seeing how other facilities are, this site was quite disappointing, untidy where the bins and chemical waste area is with a scattering of stuff just laying around which could have quite easily have been tidied up for a more welcoming entrance. Although the owners were helpful on arrival, I think a general spring clean on the site would help improve better reviews and a total new rebuild of the toilet/shower block too.

Best site for wildlife and exceptional facilities.

July 2022

Liked We loved every part of our stay here, with beautiful scenery and very clean and spacious facilities, added extra touch of music playing in the toilet/shower block. The river Teifi runs beside the site giving an abundance of wildlife to spot and watch if you just want to sit beside it and relax for some time. We kayaked on the river for a short stretch and spotted herons, a king fisher and plenty of tiny fish. A short walk from the site, over the bridge, offers a long riverside walk, decked for safety, which again is a wildlife lovers paradise. The site owners were very helpful and friendly and obviously take pride in their site as it is kept very tidy and they were tirelessly working on it the whole time we were there. I would most definitely stay there again, it was so relaxing.

Beautiful location with clean and spacious facilities.

July 2022

Liked Very beautiful site with exceptionally good facilities, showers and toilet block very clean and spacious. This site is located right next to the steep waterfalls which are a must to visit, if you visit them after closing hours, then a turnstile is available with a fee of £2 for entry. The staff, on arrival were very helpful, upgrading us from non-electric to electric free of charge so as to give us a better pitch. I would recommend this site to others and would definitely visit myself again.

Exceptionally clean site and facilities. Perfect location.

July 2022

Liked We were very impressed with our pitch and the site during our short stay recently. The site was kept immaculately clean and tidy and the shower/ toilet facilities were excellent, with the added touch of radio playing with music etc. The owner offered information for local attractions and said we could texted her at any time if we needed anything. The site was located in walking distance to the zipworld line attraction which we were booked on during our stay. I would definitely rebook here and recommend it to others as a perfect place to stay if they were visiting north Wales. Thanks for allowing us to stay with you.
