Paddock two sheltered by mature hedges
Grass pitch

  • Friendly, family-run farm site within 15 minutes' drive of beaches
  • A 15-minute drive from Louth market town; half an hour from Skegness
  • On the main bus route from Lincoln to Mablethorpe (via Louth)
Based in the pretty rural village of South Reston near Louth, Holme Lea makes a handy base for exploring the beaches and wolds of lovely Lincolnshire. Welcoming families and (well-behaved) canines, pitches are scattered across a four-acre site that's neatly divided into two well-maintained and level grass paddocks sheltered by high hedges. This is a handy spot to stay in if you want to ditch the car – Holme Lea sits at the foot of the gorgeous Lincolnshire Wolds, with abundant cycle and walking routes to try out. The local village of South Reston is on a main bus route too, so you can catch regular services to Louth and Lincoln, or seaside towns including Mablethorpe (15 minutes’ drive) and Skegness (half an hour). The village also has a popular local pub, which you can walk to in five minutes; as well as serving a decent pint, it has a small essentials shop if you happen to run out of supplies. For those who want to fish, there are also fisheries within five minutes' drive of the site. Simple on-site facilities include a toilet block, emptying point and various drinking water points around the pitches. There's also a shower room (with sink, toilet and shower) available for a small extra charge.

Liked Holme Lea truly lives up to its name — homely and welcoming from the moment we arrived.

Louise gave us such a warm welcome and outstanding service throughout our stay. She kindly helped us onto our pitch and thoughtfully placed us near the play area so we could keep an eye on our 2-year-old without hovering over her.

Louise also recommended some lovely places to visit, including a fantastic soft play centre, which we really enjoyed. We had such a great time that we decided to extend our trip and add an extra night!

Nothing was ever too much trouble. We’d even forgotten to pack our little one’s pushchair, and Louise very kindly lent us a spare one to use during our stay. It’s little touches like that which made our experience so special.

We would absolutely recommend Holme Lea to anyone looking for a friendly, relaxing, and family-oriented stay.

Liked The pitch was spacious even with our XL tent.
The children loved the play area and various toys that were available to play with.
The owners were always around for any queries and were lovely to talk to.
There was some items out of use, such as tables etc near our tent. One of the days. The children discovered little trinkets. Books etc and thought they had found treasure, it was lovely to see them all playing and discovering little things like this.
Really liked how the children could play freely and we could see them from the tent
The toilets were basic but kept clean.

Liked Nice, quiet area/pitch . Lovely surroundings very close to Mablethorpe and picturesque villages. Owners were nice.

Disliked even though stay was nice , reason for 6 out of 10 review is I was not a big fan of charging £2 every time to use shower and there was only 1 shower available for the entire site. I believe if you paying £23 for the night surely the amenities should be included . Every other place i have camped at has always been included with price of admission .

From the manager: Hi

Thank you for your review. I am disappointed with the comments you make and therefore wish to explain why we do things the way we do.

Pitchup clearly states that showers are not included in the price of the pitch fee! We aim to keep pitch fees as reasonable as possible and therefore if we were to increase Pitch fees to include showers this would be unfair to those who have their own facilities in caravans and motorhomes and therefore no need to use Site shower room.

Due to limited funding when converting the building for the shower room we decided to opt for quality rather than quantity. One shower is ample for our campers 95% of the time it is only on busy bank holidays that there may be a short wait at peak times.

The shower room is far higher than the normal standard you would expect on sites. Our shower room is heated, spacious, vanity unit, large mirror, toilet, pictures and plants and toiletries. You will appreciate that water rates, electricity cleaning regularly all takes time and money and being a small rural site we do have to charge for this unfortunately.

As you will see our reviews are excellent.

Liked Louise and Steve are great hosts and genuinely can't do enough to make sure your stay is managed well.
The electric pitches to the front of the site are of a decent size and electric is payable as cash or as the total amount at the end.
We paid in £10.00 increments and any credit is returned to you, there are meters by the pitch showing your credit.
Phone signal is intermittent on O2.

Disliked NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SITE - The pub down the road keeps very random hours and was not open on a Thursday evening and Landlady closed the pub around 21.30 on the Friday.
My wife who is easy going thought a shelf in the ladies toilet would have been helpful.
