Lovely site, would recommend and will re-visit

May 2026

Liked Loved the site, spacious field - quite a luxury to have plumbing at a campsite like this as well, expected compost toilets of some description (which would have also been fine!). There's a huge barn and spacious cooking / eating area. Was good to have somewhere to shelter and eat comfortably outside of the tent when it rained. Everything was very clean, well put together and thought out. Quiet + far from main road noises. Highlight was robins nesting in the roof of the outbuildings and watching them very efficiently come with food for the chicks, we also saw a frog and the swallows in the barn chasing each other around and chattering. Lots of birdsong - a very healthy ecosystem!

Disliked Nothing to do with the campsite itself or how it is operated, but someone had left a big bag of mixed rubbish in the wrong bins - including recyclables - despite really clear signage in the bin area, on the front of every bin, on the toilet doors, and even on the campsite listing. I felt bad for the owners having to sort through it all. If you're heading off camping, please do be mindful with your waste so the hosts (and other guests) aren't left to deal with it. It's such a small thing that makes a real difference, especially if the site has everything covered (bins for card and paper, metal, food waste, plastic, sanitary - couldn't be easier to figure it out!)

Peaceful city break, plenty to explore, well looked after site

Aug 2025

Liked 20/10 rating if it was possible. The listing does not do the site justice - 20 mins from our home we needed a short getaway to enjoy the Perseids meteor shower. When we arrived the pitch was well laid out and well signposted. We set up and explored and to our delight found the "secret garden" area past the chicken coop and rabbit hutch... A lovely fairyland area that just kept going, we assume they hold activities there - a beautiful woodland kitchen area, many firepits... Eggs to buy, a little trust box shop, composting loos and some showers (a bucket shower and a more traditional 🚿 shower). Portaloos by the main pitch area were very clean. There was a convenient washing up area, as well as some outdoor toys for kids. Plenty of tables and chairs to sit, relaxed and comfortable space, absolutely one of the best places I've camped on pitchup. We will definitely be going back, especially to try the activities as well. As for the meteor shower, we knew we were too close to the city to have a really dark sky - we saw a few still, but couldn't go too far out as we had work the next day. For the distance from Southampton and Eastleigh it still felt like a nice break away from the real world! There was also a lovely pub a walking distance away that sits beside a lake. Really felt like we were totally out of the city in a peaceful place.

Smaller field with great Eastward views and robust facilities

Aug 2024

Liked Great views, easy to access from Southampton - first time camping so close to home meant we could get a pretty affordable taxi home (Uber covers this area!) Peaceful, very inquisitive cows in the field next door, plus sheep and horses as part of the working farm gave the site a lovely charm especially with the calves peering out from behind the toilet hut. Communal area was a nice touch with two fire pits. Composting toilet meant minimal smell, plus a shower and water point covers everything you need. Pitch / field in general was level with a very good clear view East and dappled shade in the West We came to watch the Perseids meteor shower as it's very close to Old Winchester Hill which is one of the dark sky conservation areas in Hampshire, and we got a great show. Hosts were friendly, responsive and accomodating!

Beautiful site with spotless facilities & good connections to Brecon

Aug 2023

Liked Myself and my girlfriend visited for 5 nights (extended due to storms), and we were on a motorcycle. There is an appropriate place for a motorcycle to park near the farm entrance - I would discourage others from trying to ride up to the site unless you have an adv bike / off road tyres as the gravel on the track up is very large and loose. The views were stunning and the pitch had a lot of space and flat ground. The toilets (there were 3) were kept very clean and stocked with toilet paper, as well as a hand wash basin with soap. There is a shower, however the pump was not working during our stay, though the owners did get a new battery and were working on fixing it. I am sure it is likely already fixed. The owners were also very helpful, offering to take our things up to the pitch site on their atv. We also caught a lift to the four waterfalls walk which was very appreciated. Overall, it was a very accommodating stay and we would reccomend.

Great campsite with plenty of options to explore the Peak District

Aug 2021

Liked I stayed very briefly arriving at 8:30pm and leaving at 10am but from what I saw the site was clean and tidy. There was a gentle incline facing West, but I managed to find a flat section to camp in on the East wall. Sadly it was overcast, I imagine sunrise would be fantastic here with very clear views eastward. I liked the additional seating and swing area in the middle, and the toilets were clean when I used them as I arrived and when I left. The information leaflet sent via email was also very welcome as I spent my day exploring caves at Castleton, which I would not have known about without the "things to do" section. The directions were also easy to follow. If you are a motorcyclist as I was, be careful of the dirt track road as it was very muddy / slippery with loose stones, so do arrive in daylight. There was a big, deep puddle just near the entrance which if it was any closer would have prevented me from being able to get into the grounds - just beware for anyone arriving not in 4 wheels! Good value for money considering the season.

Beautiful site, pictures do not do it justice.

Aug 2021

Liked Beautiful views, clean facilities (incl. showers), proximity to good walks / hikes. Would visit again. The sound of the stream nearby was really great, views of huge hills all around the campsite and nice flat ground with the option of an east or west facing pitch depending on preference. Some areas stay shaded til midday, or others will catch sun in the morning.
