It's free, quick and easy!
- A 12-acre park by the Tarn river with direct access to beaches
- Five minutes’ drive to Florac and five-minute walk to the Tarn bridge
- Heated swimming pool, snack bar, playgrounds and pétanque
Rock up to Camping Le Pont du Tarn in the Languedoc-Roussillon’s Cevennes National Park, a stunning site next to the Tarn river at the foot of the bluffs that mark out the edges of the Causse Méjean limestone plateau, and you may well soon be asking why on earth you haven’t stayed here before…
As well as good looks, this 12-acre park has direct access to natural river beaches, a heated pool for warmer dips and a paddling pool where the tiddlers can drench themselves safely. Younger guests also have two playgrounds, table tennis, table football, volleyball, basketball and pétanque on hand for dry-land amusement, and activities are organised in the summer months.
When the smaller travellers in your clan aren’t partaking in all these on-site pursuits, Camping Le Pont du Tarn makes an ace jumping-off point for the many outdoor activities in the area – from horse riding to mountain biking.
If your holiday vibe is rather more about eating than adventuring, you’re in luck: food’s served at the park’s restaurant, and gourmet ingredients are sold at the weekly Thursday market in the nearby town of Florac (five minutes’ drive). While you’re here, have a gander at the architecture – there’s a castle, church, temple, old convent and fountains in this seriously pretty town.

Local attractions
Kick off your tour of the Lozère area by checking out the cultural and architectural riches of Florac, the market town that’s five minutes’ drive away and 545 metres above sea level. Four rivers meet at this place, making it a tiptop place for lazy ambles besides the water.
Like your walks to be more of a challenge? Try scaling the 1,066-metre-high Mount Rochefort from here or drive to Les Bondons (20 minutes) and follow a 4.5-hour signposted trail across Mount Lozère’s striking south-western granite and limestone-covered slope.
Other nature-rich spots to saunter around include the Gorges du Tarn, 35 minutes away, a canyon formed by the river cutting through the Causses limestone plateau. It's a distinctive landscape to explore in the car and on foot or – best of all – by bobbing about in a boat.
And if you’re seeking more of an offbeat way to spend your time? Le Vallon du Villaret (55 minutes) fuses an adventure park with outdoor art gallery and hosts activities involving art, music and water in a stunning valley setting.
