Power optional concrete and grass site

Liked: Overall pretty poor in our opinion, staff nice but generally the place looked tired and in need of some love and TLC. The site itself is in a great area, only appreciated once you walk outside the gate to the rear of the site. It could be really good if the owners got their act together.

Power optional concrete and grass site

Liked: Friendly reception staff. Relatively close to restaurants, supermarket and train station to Bordeaux and Arcachon - approx 10 to 15mins walk. Facilities were regularly cleaned but no toilet paper provided.

Disliked: Staff only on site for short period in the morning and again late afternoon. We could only check in at 5pm as reception closed and barrier is only operated by reception so unable to go out and return in our MotorHome when reception was staffed. E.g unable to return to site after 8pm. Pedestrian gate to coastal path not locked so no security of access from public. Unlike the next door Municipal site which had a locked gate. Showers and washing up water Luke warm throughout visit

Liked: La proximité avec la plage et le centre , le calme du camping. C'est un camping plutôt familial peut être pas le meilleur pour un groupe d'amis mais idéal pour une famille avec enfant ou couple

Power optional concrete and grass site

Liked: The guy when checking in ( could have been the owner) was very pleasant on arrival. The showers were hot. This site is a good and easy access to the train station. Pretty quiet at night considering the amount of young groups staying. The lights on the site went out at 23:00, meaning quiet time.

Disliked: My first impression was what I’m I doing at this site, when arriving at our pitch there were around 20 teenagers running around and the pitch in front of us there was approximately 6 tents to one pitch again with around 12 teenagers on. However at night time they would leave the site to go onto to the beach and do there thing before arriving back on site around 06:00. I booked this site because the beach it stated the beach is a 5 minute walk, it is but don’t expect to see the sea, it’s literally a estuary / basin. If I’m honest I was expecting to see the west coast of France surfing beach (obviously not doing my research properly) how wrong could I be. The grass needs a good cutting and the site rules need abiding by because from what I saw was a free for all with very little organisation. Enjoy your stay

Power optional concrete and grass site

Liked: Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Good, clean well-maintained facilities and plenty of room on the pitch for an extra tent. Very close to beautiful beach and seafood restaurants. Easy train journey to central Archachon. Really good for families

Disliked: There was a bar nearby that played loud music until the early hours but it may have been a one-off and it clearly wasn’t under the control of the staff.

Local attractions

Kids (and big kids) can greet the lambs, calves and piglets at La Coccinelle (35 minutes’ walk). The farm park also has slides, log flume and rollercoasters for a bigger thrill. With more leisure parks and inland lakes in Arcachon (15 minutes’ journey by public transport), this site is set up nicely for family breaks. Being positioned right on the coastal path, there are lots of places your feet can take you, too. Wild landscapes include the Dune of Pilat (around two hours and 20 minutes’ walk), the tallest sand dune in Europe, or the Réserve Ornithologique Du Teich (an hour and 45 minutes’ walk or 15 minutes’ drive), a favourite dwelling spot for a variety of birds. Take the ferry over to Le Phare du Cap Ferret (two hours’ and 35 minutes’ walk and ferry ride) to get some fabulous views of the bay (after climbing 258 steps). Port de la Teste (45 minutes’ walk) is closer by and packed with oyster farmers lugging around oyster sacks, as well as a fair few waterfront oyster restaurants.
