  • Small and peaceful Carmarthenshire five minutes' drive from Pencader
  • Brechfa Forest 10 minutes' drive; 35 minutes to the coast
  • Dog-friendly site with easy access from the A485
If you’re dreaming of a peaceful place to stay surrounded by some stunning scenery… well, Field of Dreams Wales could be the place to make it all come true. This sweet little site is tucked away in the Carmarthenshire hills about two miles from the village of Pencader, and it centres around a 2,5-acre camping field where guest numbers are kept low to ensure everyone has plenty of peace and space to relax. Dogs are welcome to join you for stays here too. This is a thoroughly rural location, with a lake on site and gorgeous country views all around, but it’s easy to get to as the A485 passes close by. And while you’re no doubt here to soak up the serenity that comes from being well away from everyday life, it’s handy to know that you’re still within a few minutes’ drive of a convenience store, a bakery and a fish and chip shop in the village. In fact this is a great location for quiet nights interspersed with days out – both Cardigan bay (to the north) and Carmarthen Bay (to the south) are within 40 minutes’ drive, and there’s also much to explore at the likes of Brechfa Forest and the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Back at base, the facilities have been designed by site owners who’ve done many camping and glamping trips themselves and therefore have a good idea of what guests want. That means the cheerful, spacious bathroom block has separate ladies’ and gents’ toilets, and there’s also a shared firepit with cooking tripod (and a washing-up area to help you deal with your dishes).

Powered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked: Went to get away from everything, time to myself to work on an essay, but ended up just enjoying the place. Emma and John have created such a beautiful site with all that you could need, including a cooking shelter for those rainy days, beautiful lake to just watch the fish, gorgeous glamping huts (although I was in a tent, but John showed me around). As a trans women, I find it hard to find safe environments for myself to relax, but I felt safe here. The fact they are keeping the number of pitches small works in the places favour. I wouldn't take my children here, as there's nothing for them to do, but as a getaway for people looking for solitude this is a stunning site to stay at. Thank you both. I will be returning

Disliked: I've marked child friendly down, only due to not having much to do there

Liked: Highly recommended! Such a great location, epic sunsets, friendly and welcoming hosts, everything you’ll ever need from brilliant clean facilities, fire pit, bbq /pizza undercover area, fridges, handy pot wash, local knowledge and recommendations. Owners John and Emma were wonderful! We had the best weekend in our little campervan.
