Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site
Liked Huge pitches, great friendly welcome. All the small touches you might need to make camping easier. Great you can use their firepits. Toilets, showers and washing up area, all cleaned and looked after regularly
Disliked Didn't like it's only got a 28 day licence. It should be open all year. It could do with having more showers/toilets but we never had to wait long.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site
Liked Spacious pitches, amazing views, friendly owners, access to fridge freezers and sockets for charging (helpful when on a non-electric site).
Showers were hot, but there are only three showers and toilets do the occasional small queue, especially during a peak time stay. Facilities were clean and adequate.
Not too far from local beauty spots. Local village has a convenience shop a great chippy (top tip - pre-book a slot to collect your order online in advance)

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site
Liked Great location with a beautiful view. It’s located about an hour walk from the most beautiful beach, you can take a nice walk through the forest.
The site has everything you need, facilities are great and hosts are very welcoming and helpful

No longer as advertised and beautiful little site spoiled
Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site
Liked Plenty of space, free fire pits to use. Plenty of amenities and perfect location.
Disliked Been here many times but since the council changed their licence it's really made the site go downhill. Used to be small and peaceful, now there are large family groups, no room in the freezers as overloaded with peoples beer and queues for showers and toilets. Someone even unplugged freezer to plug in their electric coolbox! Don't visit here if you rely on electricity!
I understand why you're doing it, to cram a season into 28 days, but the original vibe is ruined and your site isn't as advertised as not peaceful or 25 pitches, were many more pitched.
Unfortunately I don't think I'll be visiting again, which is a shame, but we've also recently brought a caravan so intend to used that more.
Unfortunately the standard has also gone downhill, owners should monitor behaviour of people abusing facilities (beer in freezers, plugging in cool boxes, families screaming until 1am playing football around other people's tents), but it seems because they need everyone in the 28 days, the rules have gone out the window.

From the manager: We're sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us and that after visiting in previous seasons, you've decided you probably won't come again. We can, as you make reference to, only open for 4 weeks per year and due to this, we do have to try and make the most of this relatively short period. The weekend of your particular visit (August Bank Holiday), was by far the busiest of the whole 4 weeks. We can, however, assure you that we work as hard as we can to try to ensure everyone has the best experience we can provide for them. We also consider our campsite to be good value for money.
We're a little disappointed that you've awarded such a low score for customer service. There's always someone on site and a mobile number is provided to make contact at anytime. We make a point of telling people to come and see us or call us if there's an issue, as we did personally with you. We can (and do) discreetly talk to people if an issue us brought to our attention. We can't, however, be in all places at all times of the day and night, and we do rely on other campers at times to inform us if there are any problems.
We hope our responses go some way to addressing the points you've raised.
Kind regards.
Jane and Terry.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay at Mars Tywyn. Lovely campsite, very clean with great facilities and a wonderful location. Jane & Terry were very welcoming & helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Great that they do a discount for solos too. Would definitely like to stay again :)

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site
Liked Very quiet at night
Terry and Jane are lovely people and very helpful
It’s very close to the beach and a
Nice pub and chippy.
Huge pitches!
Disliked Every hour during the night sounds like a very loud shotgun sound. Not sure what was going on but this went on for the time we stayed. Also the toilets and showers are mixed for men and women. There is often a que for using the showers.
Only 3 showers and 3 toilets for an entire campsite. Could be 100 plus people on site for all I know.

From the manager: Many thanks for your feedback. We're afraid that farming devices like the pest deterants you could hear being used at night are a part of country life, and about which, we have very little control. Providing mixed facilities for showers and loos offers as much flexibility as we can in terms of people being able to access the facilities as they need them. In an ideal world, we would provide more of these types of facilities. However, as we only operate for 28 days a year, we have to balance our very short operational period with the significant costs of extending these types of facilities. We hope this response goes some way to addressing the issues you have raised.
Thanks for a very enjoyable stay,…
