What customers say
Stunning views near Snowdonia/Llanberis. Friendly staff, choose your own spot, basic but decent facilities (food van on site). Peaceful vibe. Note: hilly, pick your pitch wisely. Showers cost extra. Can get a bit noisy/less clean when busy.

Liked The only thing I can say about the campsite is the view of Snowden
Disliked The fact that you had to pay for the hot water in the shower you got eight minutes for a pound with the tumble dryer. I was stood at reception for a good 10 minutes before anybody came to the counter, even though I could hear people in the back room found it not a very nice place
I was with a young child and he had very little to do no play facilities that I could see
Poor communications I had to change my plans four days before I arrived tried calling them on the number provided no answer called multiple times. No answer. Send a text message. No response. Sent an email. No response. Had to amend my travel plans on arrival at reception.

From the manager: We are glad you enjoyed the views of YR WYDDFA / SnowdON
The charge for hot water in the showers is clearly advertised before and during your stay, as is the requirement to have £1 coins available. These are not unexpected charges and the information is provided in advance so guests can make the necessary arrangements.
Regarding your arrival and the short wait at reception. We are a small, independently operated site and, during quieter periods, there may be occasions when staff are attending to other duties rather than continuously stationed at reception. I also have a 3 year old and a five-month-old myself and on occasion, am working alone on site so on these occasions I won't be answering the door immediately or at all! This is also our home - we could be tending to personal matters, children, emergencies... For these exact reasons we provide clear information on the reception door that cannot be missed, including site information and self-check-in instructions, specifically to ensure guests can access the information they need. We are a small, straight forward, basic site, the instructions are more than adequate to find all of our facilities.
With regard to facilities for children, we do not advertise or provide play equipment or children's play facilities neither do we ever plan to. So again we would encourage guests to check the facilities advertised before booking with completely false expectations.
Finally, we would like to clarify the communication issue. We do not advertise a telephone number for guests to call or text as we don't have one. Our advertised method of contact is email, and we clearly state that our expected response time is up to 48 hours, with longer response times possible during particularly busy periods I.E. summer holidays!!!. Your email was responded to within the advertised 48-hour timeframe. You were taking one person off your booking - we would have dealt with this on arrival anyway.
We appreciate all feedback, as it gives us an opportunity to clarify our facilities and procedures. However, we do feel it is important that reviews accurately reflect the information and services that are actually advertised and provided.
Bring a few £1 coins with you for the shower.

Liked Absolutely gorgeous campsite very peaceful it was my first time camping and I was alone with my dog but I still felt very safe. I will definitely be returning and wished I’d booked for more than one night.
Facilities were really good. Toilets and showers very clean and washing up area too. Can’t fault anything it was all fantastic. Nice walk to the shops and then onto the lake all within half an hour walking distance.

Great spot, good facilities! Views amazing!
Unpowered grass tent site
Liked Lots of space and choice to pitch the tent. Just remember you could end up with a good walk to the toilets if you pitch low in the bottle field.
Showers were hot, a pound lasted a good while too which was great for sore muscles after Yr Wydffa. Food van was ideal. The staff were lovely.
Disliked The site is on a hill so had to be clever with the position of the pitch and bed so not to slide down the hill in your sleep. If you have a blow up air bed some for of rubber mat under would prob help… it’s on my list for next time.

Liked Facilities were good, we got a good pitch and could have our car nearby. Other campers were friendly. Easy to get the bus to Pen-y-pass. Staff were helpful. I would stay here again.
Disliked On the Saturday night the nearby Youth Hostel seemed to be having some kind of event which was very loud until 11pm. I don't know how common that is - all other nights were very peaceful.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review. We’re really pleased to hear that you enjoyed the facilities, had a good pitch and found the staff helpful. It’s also great to hear that you would stay with us again.
Just to clarify, the noise you experienced on the Saturday evening was not from an event at the nearby Youth Hostel. There was live music taking place in the village that evening. This is not a common occurrence.
Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to welcome you back for another stay in the future.

Liked Great location and friendly owners.
The location is definitely one of the best things about this campsite. It’s within walking distance of many places, which is really convenient.
Disliked I felt that there weren’t enough facilities for such a large campsite. There are only two showers for the ladies, so there was often a queue, and for people staying in some of the more distant fields, it was quite a long walk to get to the facilities. The fridges and freezer also didn’t seem very clean and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned for a while.
