Penisar Mynydd Caravan Park: Peaceful..

General

  • Peaceful rural park in St Asaph
  • Four miles from the beaches and funfairs of Rhyl and Prestatyn
  • Excellently-kept amenities and plenty of tourist info on site

Did you know that - thanks to the Diamond Jubilee of good Queen Lilibet - that UK got three brand new cities in 2012? One of the newbies, St Asaph in Denbighshire, is home to just three thousand people if you’re curious about this tiny gem, come to Penisar Mynydd Caravan Park, where you’ll be perfectly placed to join in any right royal knees-up that might still be going on in St Asaph, and to visit the classic Welsh coastal resorts of Prestatyn and Rhyl.

Penisar Mynydd Caravan Park is a peaceful rural site with well-kept pitches and with amenities kept to high standards by the friendly helpful team. There’s a great range of tourist information available on site to help you make the most of the local area.

You’ll find a handful of shops, including a convenience store, butcher and chemist in the nearby village of Dyserth (don’t miss out on a stop at the stunning Dyserth waterfalls while you’re there).

Staff were really nice and friendly and helpful too.Nice place, lots of other families. Had a lovely time. Kids loved it.Really liked the setting, beautiful place. Off the beaten track.
Toilets and showers were spotless. Can't fault them. Good placement of water taps.

    Disliked:

Placement of tents should be taped off and have allocated locations for a tent and car. By doing this it would be safer for children when they are playing. Went out for the day came back and struggled to park my car next to the tent due to people putting tents up anywhere.
Freezer in the rubbish room. This I found was unhygienic. Even though it was a small freezer for freezer packs but then you put them in next to food. 🤯Would be great to fit a bigger freezer near washing machine area or underneath outside sink.

Easy access to local beaches and walks

    Disliked:

The electric was only 6amp so kept tripping out when using electric kettle.
They didn’t have pitches marked out so it was put your tent where you want with no consideration for others space.
They kept allowing people on the field in the end it was hard to work out a safe way in or out of the field avoiding children running in and out of the tents and guild lines from peoples tents.
Maybe they need to mark out the pitches so people know where to go . Maybe a space in the middle for children to play safety eg football etc

For families, the safe sandy beaches, funfairs and plentiful tourist attractions of Rhyl and Prestatyn - just four miles away - will no doubt be top of the list. The attractive seaside resorts of Llandudno and Colwyn Bay are also within an easy drive.

Fishing fans can try the trout farm ten minutes up the road from Penisar Mynydd Caravan Park, or head into St Asaph to fish the River Elwy; walkers can saunter through a superb selection of scenery, including nearby Offa’s Dyke, or drive to Snowdonia National Park and hike the mountains and lakes; and golfers will also find that this area suits them to a tee, with a huge choice of courses including Caerwys, Meliden, Rhuddlan, Rhyl, Holywell and Prestatyn.

Other top picks for sightseeing include the village of Betws-Y-Coed and the neighbouring Swallow Falls; the imposing remains of Rhuddlan Castle; and seventeenth century Bodrhyddan Hall, where a 3,000-year-old mummy lurks among the armour and period furniture...
