  • Peaceful coastal site with sea views and beach access
  • Close to the old fishing Towns of New Quay & Aberaeron
  • Walk, Swim, Cycle, Kayak, BBQ, Dolphin spot, explore or just chill
Cei Bach (Small Quay in English) is a Hamlet set right on the Coast of West Wales, with rolling hills behind. Our dog friendly beach is split sand and pebbles and is ideal for Swimming, walking, Kayaking or fishing. We have two kids play areas, a ball field and full facilities including a laundry room. You can launch Kayaks at the beach via our site access gate and a 3 minute (steep) walk. Sunrises and sunsets can be spectacular, as are the views across Cardigan Bay to the Llyn peninsular and northwards towards Eryri (Snowdonia). Access to the Ceredigion coastal path is alongside the site. Walk northwards to Aberaeron (approx. 5 miles) which is a lovely harbour town with shopping, dining and wining opportunities, or South to New Quay (approx 1.5 miles) which is a delightful old (steep) fishing village. In the summer and at low tide, you can walk from Cei Bach to New Quay along the beach. New Quay also offers shopping, plus plenty of pubs and cafes, ice cream outlets and some of the best fish and chips you will find anywhere. Summer makes New Quay buzz, sit on the pier and watch the harbour with its dolphin spotting and fishing boats. There are three sandy beaches at New Quay all of which are good for swimming. Aberaeron is larger than New Quay and is mainly flat. The beach is of dark shale and not ideal for swimming however, the harbour and promenade provide a lovely walk, with opportunities for ice cream, crabbing and of course pubs.

Route directions

We are situated off the A487 Cardigan Bay coastal road which runs north from Cardigan to Aberystwyth. From either direction first head for Llanarth village before taking the B4342 towards New Quay at the Llanina Arms pub, (From here DON'T use your Sat Nav), stay on this road for approximately 2 miles until you pass Schooner Park on your right. Then take the next right turn signposted "Cei Bach 1 mile". Stay on this road passing over a hump-back bridge, take the next sharp left turn and go up the hill, at the top of the hill take another sharp left, you'll then see us on your left.

Local attractions

Beaches - follow the coast South towards Cardigan to find your choice of sandy beach from quiet to busy. Car travel time 15 - 45mins depending on your choice. Our favourites are Llangrannog and Poppit Sands. Dolphin spotting at New Quay - Cardigan Bay has the largest population of dolphins in Europe and there are regular boat spotting trips from April to November. Bwlch nant yr Arian forest visitor centre near Aberystwyth has red kite feeding every day of the year. Here, you can also ride various purpose built downhill mountain bike runs or forest trails, or refresh at the visitor centre. Aberystwyth - ride the cliff railway to the camera obscura or take the Vale of Rheidol steam train to Devils bridge waterfalls (or approx 1hr by car). Devils bridge waterfalls are spectacular and have two (steep) walks plus lunch / coffee opportunities. Golf - Penrhos Park championship course is open to non members (car travel time 30 mins). National Trust Llanerchaeron (car travel time 20 mins) - is an 18th Century villa, parkland & lake, walled garden and working farmyard with Welsh breeds.
