  • Family-friendly stays in a wildflower meadow on a laidback site
  • A 10-minute drive from Llangrannog beach and the Wales Coast Path
  • Car- and radio-free policy for peace and quiet; chickens, hens on site
Is there a site in west Wales more ace than family-friendly Ffynnonwen? Book a stay at this smallholding in a peaceful part of Ceredigion and the coastal path wanders, salty swims and hammock snoozes among a wildflower meadow are sure to help you make up your mind… A peaceful place, Ffynnonwen has hens and sheep as neighbours in a car-free area (eggs are available to buy on site and wheelbarrows are on hand to cart your stuff about), with a no-electronic music and radio policy to help keep the atmosphere serene. The park is also less than 10 minutes’ drive from sandy Llangrannog beach and its foodie options from fish and chips to classic pub meals. If you’ll be cooking some meals on the barbecue back on base, stock up on supplies at the supermarket over in Brynhoffnant, less than a 10-minute drive away. You can also easily set off from the grounds for ambles along the coastal path (about three miles away) where seals and dolphins can be spotted in the water… or stay closer to home to wander through the woods that are about 20 minutes away on foot (and maybe take a splash in a stream while you're there). And if the beaches ever get boring? The area’s brimming with boat trips, watersports, theme parks, castles and botanical gardens too.

Meadow bell tent (no electricity)

Liked: Everything! So much thought had gone into everything from the spotless toilets, fridge, freezer blocks, fairy lights in the bell tent and the amazing outdoor kitchen. Brilliant for dogs as well as the bell tent we stayed in was fully enclosed and felt so peaceful and private. Amazing walks from the site down to the sea. Owners also were very friendly and helpful.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: The campsite was located in a beautiful, peaceful spot close to the coast, and the only sounds while we were there was birdsong. The tent fields have long grass with paths and pitches cut short, making each pitch feel very private because you're screened from your neighbours. There are places for having a fire by the pitches, the facilities were spotless and pleasant to use, and the owners were kind, friendly and great to have a chat with. We couldn't have stayed in a better place, and will return anytime we're planning on staying in the area. Although we stayed in a tent we walked up to have a look at the bell tent, which looked great with a roomy inside and its own cooking station and seating outside in a field by itself. We'd definitely go for that next time!

Disliked: Nothing

Liked: We’ve just come home from the most amazing weekend at Ffynnonwen. Lindsey and Lloyd gave us such a friendly and warm welcome, they couldn’t have been been better hosts. •Really convenient fridge & freezer to use. •facilities were kept well stocked & immaculately clean. •Thoughtful touches. •Campfires at every pitch •marshmallows & firewood available to buy at a very small fee :) By far the best & most beautiful campsite we’ve stayed in and we can’t wait to visit again soon. Our little boy absolutely loved his first camping trip. Thankyou so much for a wonderful stay :)

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: We had a lovely stay here on the beautiful site, it was very spacious and peaceful with good, level pitches. The pitches all had a spot for a bonfire which was nice and the facilities were wonderful. Definitely an experience using the compost toilet but one I'd be happy to repeat as it was kept in such good condition.
