Ffynnonwen: Visitor image of the peaceful pitches

General

  • Family-friendly stays in a wildflower meadow on a laidback site
  • A 10-minute drive from Llangrannog beach and the Wales Coast Path
  • Car- and radio-free policy for peace and quiet; chickens, hens on site

Is there a site in west Wales more ace than family-friendly Ffynnonwen? Book a stay at this smallholding in a peaceful part of Ceredigion and the coastal path wanders, salty swims and hammock snoozes among a wildflower meadow are sure to help you make up your mind…

A peaceful place, Ffynnonwen has hens and sheep as neighbours in a car-free area (eggs are available to buy on site and wheelbarrows are on hand to cart your stuff about), with a no-electronic music and radio policy to help keep the atmosphere serene.

The park is also less than 10 minutes’ drive from sandy Llangrannog beach and its foodie options from fish and chips to classic pub meals. If you’ll be cooking some meals on the barbecue back on base, stock up on supplies at the supermarket over in Brynhoffnant, less than a 10-minute drive away.

You can also easily set off from the grounds for ambles along the coastal path (about three miles away) where seals and dolphins can be spotted in the water… or stay closer to home to wander through the woods that are about 20 minutes away on foot (and maybe take a splash in a stream while you're there).

And if the beaches ever get boring? The area’s brimming with boat trips, watersports, theme parks, castles and botanical gardens too.

We had a lovely stay here on the beautiful site, it was very spacious and peaceful with good, level pitches. The pitches all had a spot for a bonfire which was nice and the facilities were wonderful. Definitely an experience using the compost toilet but one I'd be happy to repeat as it was kept in such good condition.

The eco touches, tranquility of the campsite, each pitch had its own campfire. The wild flowers and little garden paths guiding you around the campsite.

    Disliked:

Not really a dislike, it wasn’t massively busy during our stay but a full campsite with only one shower would be a bit inconvenient.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback, we're so pleased you enjoyed yourselves! (and the good new is that the site never gets any busier than when you stayed here as we always leave some pitches empty!)

Perfect for small families looking for a quiet getaway and for young children who can safely explore the well designed pathways in a car free environment. If you are looking for a boozy late night party venue then this isn't for you which is why it suited us just perfect. Some really nice lesser known places to discover as well.
I recommend you don't take a trailer because if you need to reverse on the twisty single track B roads you may struggle.
Thank you to the awesome owners for a lovely holiday and for even arranging sunshine for both set up and pack down for our tent! :).

    Disliked:

Sometimes the shower was cold during busy periods but leave it a few minutes and it works again fine.

Really enjoyed our first time camping with the kids. A safe space where they enjoyed running along the cut paths amid the long meadow grass. Our stay was in the bell tent which was ideal for our 4 year old twins. We used the fire pit a lot and found the small kitchen it came with very well kitted out. The shower had hot water (free - no £1 machine!). And there’s even a shared fridge and freezer - not seen that before when camping. Very easy to find on sat Nav and we really appreciated the local information on their website - v helpful. The owners were very lovely and friendly and our names were even written on the arrival board which was a nice welcome. It’ll be hard to find anything better! Thanks for having us.

Owner of the camp site was extremely lovely and welcoming, the kitchen at the bell tent was really impressive. Everything we needed was there on site. A bag of wood was provided for free as part of the holiday which again was extremely lovely. Couldn’t fault the start and location, beaches were working a 15/20 minute drive to 4/5 different beaches!
