  • Quiet Mid Wales coastal campsite overlooking spectacular Cardigan Bay
  • Walking distance to Mwnt Beach; Castell Henllys half an hour’s drive
  • Family site with a play park, animals to meet and a well-stocked shop
With sweeping views over Cardigan Bay – home of a well-known dolphin pod – peaceful, family-run Blaenwaun Caravan Park is set on a farm 15 minutes’ drive north of Cardigan in Mid Wales. This quiet spot overlooks the gorgeous National Trust-owned Mwnt Beach, which can be reached via a bridleway from the site. This coastal caravan park is a great base for the whole family; there’s a fantastic play area on the edge of the camping field (so parents can keep an eye on their offspring from the pitches), and there’s masses of room for ball games, kite flying or riding bikes. As if that’s not enough, youngsters can feed pot-bellied pigs, Jemima the goat and Pippi the pony. Access the Ceredigion Coast Path from the site (bring any dogs with you for seaside walkies), and give alfresco cooking on the barbecue a go too. There’s a well-stocked shop on site, selling fresh bread, milk and free-range eggs, as well as gifts and camping essentials. To make life even easier, electric hook-ups are available, and you can use the basic kitchen equipment (microwave, kettle, fridge and toaster) in the laundry room. The facilities block has a disabled shower room and baby-changing facility too.

What customers say

A friendly, well-kept spot with awesome sea views and sunsets. Campers loved the spacious sites, great playground & brilliant facilities, including a communal kitchen. Staff are consistently a winner – super welcoming & helpful. Just a 15-20 min stroll to Mwnt beach. Some reckon it can be a bit breezy, and shower cubicles lack hooks, but there's a family/disabled room with temp control.

Liked Welcoming hosts, clean and modern bathrooms, handy launderette and kitchenette with fridge, convenient small onsite shop selling basic bits, and WiFi access due to phone signal not being great.

We were here for the bank holiday weekend, and they had food vans on site.

Best thing for us was the brilliantly maintained kids play area for our son to run around, the farm animals and the beautiful sea views.

Absolutely loved this campsite, we'll definitely be back again! Diolch x

Liked Great location, large pitches so you can easily fit a huge tent and a car or what ever you going to bring.
There are very clean facilities and shop if you need some essentials, and if you forgot to bring camping hob not to worry as there’s a kitchen with laundry - all you need for camping.
I’ll be keep coming back there.

Liked Facilities very clean, showers nice and hot. Tidy site with good play area for the kids. Very friendly and helpful staff. Site is small and felt very safe for the kids to run around freely. Felt more relaxed and peaceful on this site.

Disliked Shop was very basic, would have been good to be able to purchase fresh fruit and veg for the on site pigs as kids loved feeding them. Walk to the beach wasn't great through fields occupied by cows, we decided to drive but there was plenty of parking so not a big deal.

Liked A very well presented campsite, Spotlessly clean. Owners were fantastic...The views...A fave of mine!
Shop, laundry, Kitchen area has everything you could possibly need. Showers & sinks had hot water. Park was a massive hit with the children, we were Plot 27 perfect for park & Facilities.
Animals my daughter loved going to see. Also a 4 minute drive to Mwnt beach, which is a spectacular beach & views. 3-4 mile drive to local shops & Cardigan.
Added bonus here is the WiFi! Brilliant. Thank you Blaenwaun, we most definitely will return!

Disliked Can be windy, as your high above sea level. Not a Campsite fault, just be prepared & pitch correctly. Also make sure you take lights, torches, phone flash as some aspects of site are dark during night. Mainly the field area walking to facilities. Facilities are all well lit!

Liked The campsite had spectacular views of mwnt beach! It had all the amenities you would need & more. Great location for walks, friendly staff and the food was lovely from pitsa.
Only thing I would suggest is having a shelf of some sort to put shower items on as it does get wet in there !
Overall incredible stay.

Liked Absolutely love this campsite, I've been twice and it's everything that you want from one! Spacious pitches, good, clean facilities, helpful and friendly owners and you can have a campfire (we didn't because of the recent weather), there's a nice play area and there's animals so the kids are entertained! It's close enough to the seaside by car and there's lots to do in the area.

Liked Friendly, welcoming staff.
Clean and well maintained, kids playground being central to the pitches is great so adults can relax and kids can play and make friends. Handy shop, laundry room featuring washing machines, plenty of dish washing areas, handy area with fridges and cooking area if needed. Lovely location, 5 mins drive from an amazing beach cove with amazing views of the sunset (end of August) 15 min drive to Poppit sands beach, 5 -10 min drive to shops

Local attractions

Cardigan Bay is home to a myriad of marine wildlife. Migrating dolphins can often be seen offshore, and there are numerous boat trips departing St Dogmaels (15 minutes’ drive) to view harbour porpoises, Atlantic grey seals and the resident pod of bottled-nosed dolphins. Sporty types will fit right in here too. Golfers can make a beeline for the 18-hole championship course at Gwbert (10 minutes), and there are three other courses within about 20 minutes’ drive. Sailing aficionados can hire boats in Gwbert, and riders explore the countryside on horseback from the local equestrian centre (20 minutes). For a change of pace, learn about local history with a visit to the Benedictine monastery ruins in St Dogmaels, or have a nose around the mighty towers and ramparts of 13th-century Cilgerran Castle (20 minutes). Travel back in time to Castell Henllys (half an hour), a carefully reconstructed Iron Age settlement, and take a walk up to the prehistoric burial monument at Pentre lfan (half an hour).
