  • Peaceful holiday park with fantastic views of Ben Nevis and beyond
  • A five-minute drive from Fort William and the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre
  • Great Glen Way within a 25-minute walk; wifi available on site
The highlight of a trip to the Highlands and Islands? Feasting your eyes on the UK’s tallest mountain range – and that’s exactly what you can do the whole time you’re settling in at the scenic (and aptly named) Ben Nevis Holiday Park. This well-maintained site in Scotland, set by the River Lochy and with lots of green space for kids to play and grownups to wander, also looks out across the Aonach Mor mountains. It makes a brill base for day trips by car, bike, train or foot in the Lochaber area as it’s just over five minutes’ drive from the centre of Fort William. Cycling and walking paths are close to this park – including the famed Great Glen Way along the Caledonian Canal (25 minutes’ stroll) – and a selection of shops and restaurants is just down the road. If you’d prefer not to venture far from base to gather supplies, a store on site sells the basics, camping supplies and local produce, while a café and takeaway serve up a range of light bites and drinks. Other conveniences at this thoughtfully run park include electric hook-ups, a coin-operated laundry room, clean toilets and showers, and laundry amenities. Families and groups are warmly welcomed here for hiking hols (or restful trips).

What customers say

Ace spot with cracking Ben Nevis views near Fort William. Spotless facilities, especially showers, and a ripper team. River tent sites were a winner. Tiny gripes: shower timers a bit short, patchy WiFi. A few mentioned it gets noisy when busy. Definitely worth a burl!

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked Able to walk the dog along the river path. the wi-fi was free and was pretty good, Staff were friendly and helpful.

Disliked They close the toilets for cleaning at 09.00hrs when this is probably one of the busier times of the day.Quite expensive for what you get probably one of the most expensive pitches in Scotland, stayed in better for half the price.

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked Layout of site. Reception. Shop and cafe. Laundrette (but expensive). Clean and well maintained. Good location.

Disliked Lack of gender neutral/accessible/inclusive facilities. Very small shower cubicles and only 4 for a fairly large site

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked Clean and tidy. Good shower and toilet facilities. Quiet location.

Disliked Cost of the laundry. Water and electric points not on the pitch (pitches 17-20 are all on the pitch next door) so must have a really long connection for this.
Drain points are also higher than the pitches which make it really difficult to drain into. We used our water water barrel.

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked The lovely welcome. The toilets and showers were clean, modern and warm. The site was well maintained. Cafe with cakes and drinks. Breakfasts and pizza 5.30/8 some nights. The friendly, if slightly cheeky, campsite chickens. 1.9 mile walk into the town. Close to Aldi, m&s, b and m and mountain warehouse.

Disliked We were sold some logs on our first evening despite the shop being closed, but another staff member then said no to us buying some the following night… a bit confusing. Top tip… buy yours from b and m on the way!

Local attractions

The owners reckon there’s something for everyone around this site, but walkers and cyclists are especially sorted when it comes to activities. If you’re up for a trek, challenge yourself to one of the trails up Ben Nevis, getting intel on which ones to tackle at the mountain range’s visitor centre, just over five minutes’ drive away. If you’re after a lazier lope, amble along the Caledonian Canal from the locks at Neptune's Staircase (25 minutes’ walk) or get your RDA of exercise by nipping in and out of the shops of Fort William (five minutes’ drive). The town has plenty of stores selling mountaineering kit if you need equipment to try out the more intense pursuits – think skiing and downhill biking – available in the area. For a family day out, make your way to the Glenfinnan Viaduct (25 minutes’ drive) and see if the kids recognise it from the Harry Potter films – the Hogwarts Express was filmed crossing this oh-so-scenic bridge. Saving perhaps the best activity till last, top off your trip by paying a visit to the whisky makers at the Ben Nevis Distillery (15 minutes’ walk) for a few drams of one of Scotland’s finest exports.
