  • Family-run Moray farm site in a Speyside woodland setting
  • Beaches, forest walks, golf course and Malt Whisky Trail all nearby
  • Woodland trails and kitchen on site; firepits for hire
Have a quiet relaxing time or a more adventurous holiday…The Loft in Moray is suitable for all tastes. Active sorts have plenty to keep them busy nearby, including whitewater rafting, sailing and surfing over at the coast, exploring the countryside by bike or taking a tour of the region's numerous whisky distilleries. For more chilled times, hire a firepit for lazy hours in the evening, or spend days out exploring walking trails that run around The Loft's grounds and the surrounding countryside. Amenities at this secluded wilderness site are in a converted Nissen shed, which houses a kitchen, showers, toilets (including accessible facilities) and a baby changing area. Hot water and cold drinking water is available here too, and there are more facilities up at the main reception building if required. Local shops, pubs and amenities are five miles away in Forres, and Elgin is within 15 minutes' drive. Beaches, forest trails and a golf course are all within a few minutes' drive as well, as is the Malt Whisky Trail for those in search of top tipples.

What customers say

The Loft's praised for its quiet woodland setting with private, roomy sites. Facilities are spotless & top-notch. It's well-kept, peaceful, dog-friendly, with walks & farm animals. Great spot for beach & attraction access. A few minor notes on shower temp & tap signs, but mostly ripper reviews.

Powered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked Easy check-in. Well thought out site pitches. Super clean facilities everywhere ... Showers are hot. dog friendly. Peaceful relaxing site. Being our first ever camping trip we were a bit apprehensive.. even more so with having our 2 German shepherds in the mix for added stress. The whole experience for us was unexpectedly good and very relaxing. The owners work tirelessly on site and it shows. 10/10 from us.

Disliked Absolutely nothing. If we were to say we disliked anything.. We'd only be grasping at straws..

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re absolutely delighted that your first camping trip was such a positive and relaxing experience and it was a real pleasure having you all here. Your German Shepherds were wonderfully well-behaved, and it was lovely to see you all enjoying the site together.

We really appreciate your kind words about the facilities and the site, it means a lot to us and our hard working team. We hope to welcome you again soon... Until then, take care and happy adventuring!

All-season powered grass site

Liked Showers and toilets, indoor recreation area. Good dogs walks.

Disliked The general presentation of the farm buildings and approaches in need of tidying up. Many areas in neglect and not well kept. You drive through this area before reaching pitches and camp site, rather off-putting

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback, we’re really pleased you enjoyed the showers, toilets and recreation area, and that your dog enjoyed the walks too! We are very lucky to have so many beautiful palces to walk on our doorstep 😊

As a working farm and a more rustic, natural-style campsite, we do our best to keep everything tidy while staying true to our relaxed, rural charm. We appreciate your comments and will keep them in mind as we continue to make improvements. Thanks again for staying with us!

Powered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Unpowered grass tent site (solo)

Liked This was my second time staying at this campsite, and once again it didn’t disappoint. I had pitch number 41, which had plenty of space and allowed me to park my motorbike right next to the tent — a big plus for me. Despite the site being busy, it was peaceful and relaxing throughout my stay. The facilities were modern, clean, and well-maintained. The owners were very friendly and took the time to chat with me, which added a nice personal touch. I’ll definitely be back again — highly recommended for campers and bikers alike!

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked Actually stayed in a campervan pitch (choice of campervan wasn't included on the form).
The campsite was lovely and quiet with lines of trees/bushes giving us a sense of privacy. The pitch was on grass, so we could erect our garden fence (big bonus, especially with a dog.) The facilities were kept very clean and the shower was gorgeously warm. The site is very dog friendly, and we enjoyed the walking trails that surround the main site. We were very lucky to have tremendous sunny weather throughout our weekend stay which made it idyllic.

Local attractions

Stage your own mock battles at Culloden; the battlefield and a modern visitor centre are half an hour’s drive away. History buffs will also find plenty of castles and moody standing stones to clamber around. Moray’s mild climate and low average rainfall mean there’s a good chance of making the most of the fabulous golf courses, sailing, sandy beaches, forest trails and awesome mountains – you can even take to the slopes during the ski season. Amber nectar aficionados will also be interested in making the rounds of the renowned whisky distilleries nearby: everyone’s heard of Glenmorangie, Glenlivet and Glenfiddich, all easily doable from the site, but with half of Scotland’s malt whisky distilleries located in the Speyside area of Moray, there’s no shortage of options, including two beauties close by in Forres. If you don't know where to start, or want to get a comprehensive overview, hit the Malt Whisky Trail for a planned route around producers large and small.
