  • Luxury glamping on a family farm with gorgeous County Antrim views
  • The Dark Hedges five minutes’ drive; Giant's Causeway 20 minutes
  • Private hot tub, ensuite bathroom and firepit for each glamping pod
Picture this – by day you get to tick off the various entries on your Northern Ireland bucket list (The Dark Hedges, Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and many more…) and then by night you can sip prosecco in the hot tub before cosying up in a luxury camping pod. Sound like your sort of holiday plan? Sort yourselves a stay at North Coast 9 Glamping, part of a family farm between Armoy and Ballycastle in rural County Antrim. This location makes an excellent base for some time spent exploring the Causeway Coast and Glens – for starters The Dark Hedges (made famous by its appearance in Game of Thrones) is only about five minutes’ drive away, and lots of other top sights are within a 20-minute drive. And as the farm is close to an A road, getting out to all of the above should be straightforward enough too. Back at base, you’ll be staying in a smartly decorated pod with heating and insulation to ensure cosiness whatever the weather. Each one has an ensuite bathroom, a Smart TV and a kingsize bed with top-quality linen provided. A natty little kitchenette has a microwave, toaster and fridge (which you should open on arrival to find the complimentary prosecco stashed away inside). Outside, each pod has its own garden area with a firepit (with firewood provided) and outdoor seating – plus that fabulous private hot tub, where you can while away evenings soaking up the scenery or staring up at the stars (aforementioned prosecco optional but highly recommended…)

Local attractions

Whether you’re a Game of Thrones fan or not, The Dark Hedges (five minutes' drive is a special place to visit, with the avenue of beech trees forming quite a sight and spooky atmosphere. ‘Thronies’ may also like to seek out places like Ballintoy Harbour (20 minutes), Murlough Bay (half an hour) and Mussenden Temple (40 minutes), all of which also featured as locations. Major sights to visit nearby include the Giant’s Causeway (20 minutes), the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge (15 minutes) and Dunluce Castle (25 minutes). It's also a good idea to stop in at the Old Bushmills Distillery (20 minutes) and check out some of the north coast beaches like Portstewart and Portrush (both half an hour). Around the area you should also find plenty of places for bike rides, fishing, sea kayaking and games of golf (including Royal Portrush, which has hosted the Open). There are also lots of great walks around, both along the coast and in the nine Glens of Antrim (Glenariff, the Queen of the Glens, half an hour away, being perhaps the most popular).
