You’ll be able to squeeze the maximum amount of sea air out of your Dorset coastal break when you stay at East Fleet Farm Touring Park – this spectacular location is on the shores of the Fleet Lagoon, with views over Chesil Beach to the open sea beyond. Having sea views from the site means that you may be tempted to hang around on your pitch, put your feet up and simply take in the scenery for much of your break. And that’s not a bad idea at all – pitches are generously sized, with access to a play area and playing field for kids that may need a bit more activity. The well-stocked shop has various camping/caravan accessories and consumables, and it’s also the place to pick up a newspaper and an ice cream to take back to your camping chair. For more substantial eats, head to the on-site bar, which has an extensive food menu as well as a range of local drinks. It really is worth making the effort to get out and about locally though: there are some stunning walks on the South West Coast Path (which passes next to the site) and plenty of places to go for a bike ride. Weymouth and Dorchester are easily accessed too, as are the watersports of Portland and attractions such as Abbotsbury Swannery.

The bar opens weekends during low season and then more regularly during mid season. It is open nightly during the school holidays.

Liked: Quiet and well equipped. Pitches were a good size and close to amenities. Toilets and showers very clean. Good location to visit different areas of Dorset.

Disliked: Take a good mallet - ground was stony even on a grass pitch.

Liked: Friendly staff, quite site . Great value for money. Good facilities.

Disliked: Most tent pitches seem to be on a slight slope but nothing troubling. Can get a bit breezy.

Liked: Setting, views, peace and quiet. Helpful staff. Super shower facilities, clean toilets. The shop is well stocked not only food etc but the various necessities for when things break on your tent or caravan and all at reasonable prices!
Site fees very competitive. Lots of serviced pitches. Not hidebound by silly rules.

Disliked: Narrow approach road. Fortunately didn’t meet another caravan but ……

Liked: Facilities were excellent, staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. Lovely situation with easy access to the coast path and very peaceful. Received a call from staff to let us know about road closure which wouldn't open until 12.00 so suggested maybe stopping for a break as to avoid the area, wasn't needed but a nice touch thank you.

Disliked: Sat nav took us down an older road which is now private and caused an issue with resident, and not the first people to experience this apparently. Maybe let people know in advance as the other road was so much better.

Local attractions

Can’t keep your eyes off the sea views? Pick up the South West Coast Path at the bottom end of the park, or head for favourite spots along the Jurassic Coast like West Bay (half an hour’s drive) and Lulworth Cove (35 minutes). The Isle of Portland (15 minutes) is also a great place for a walk, and it’s also got lots of watersports including windsurfing, coasteering and scuba diving. Weymouth (10 minutes) is another perennial favourite for its lovely sandy beach and attractions like the Sea Life Centre and Pirate Adventure Golf. You can also get to the town on two wheels by picking up the Weymouth Trail cycle route from the bridleway by the site (or follow the full nine-mile trail up into the hills…) Other options for days out nearby include Abbotsbury Swannery and Subtropical Gardens (15 minutes), Vurlands Animal Farm (20 minutes) or an arty afternoon at Sculpture By The Lakes (half an hour).
