What customers say

Great spot near Swanage town & beach, good value with a shop & food van. Friendly staff, excellent WiFi, spacious sites. Some dated facilities noted, with mixed feedback on cleanliness & noise.

Bell tent

Liked The view from the bell tents was great, and close to a toilet block. Items provided included camp beds (off the ground) an extension cord, lamp and fire pit with logs. The beds were surprisingly comfy. The toilet block next to the bell tents is fine with good toilets and ok showers.

Disliked The communication could be improved - we were not told what to expect in the tent before arrival, and on arrival weren't sent directions for how to find the tents and wound up driving round the site in circles until we were told by friends they're in another field (!)
The bell tent area is nice but the rest of the site felt quite run down and poorly maintained. The 'restaurant' is just a burger van with outdoor benches, there is no pool, no playground and no shop on site. We saw two toilet blocks - one was ok but the other had wobbly countertops that looked like they were about to fall off the wall, holes in the walls, very muddy floors and broken locks (!) They felt very dirty.

Disliked very disappointed in finding the club house had been demolished as we knew the weather was going to be bad .we gone there several times over the last few years and did not expect it especially over the summer period if we had known we would not have bothered given the weather conditions

Liked I liked the pitch it was clean no bugs no flies.

Disliked There wasn’t any play ground for kids to play and the showers turn cold and in the toilets there is no tissue to dry your hands and the toilets were pretty far from pitch 20-29.

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked Nothing

Disliked The camping field was via a scruffy, rubbish filled residential site and only one set of toilets and showers for both the holiday makers and all the 'residents'. Needs major improvement. Broken shower screen, holes on the walls of the showers, soiled toilet paper on the floor, mud (it wasn't raining), you can smell the toilets from quite a way rom outside the toiles. Rip off price for terrible facilities. Pitches very unlevel and scruffy.

Local attractions

A five-minute drive gets you into Swanage for sandy walks, sandcastle building, splashing about and more serious watersports. To kayak round the cliffs and coves of the Jurassic Coast, make for Knoll beach (10 minutes' drive) or Lulworth Cove (40 minutes) to hire your craft and see the place from sea level. The 630 mile-long South West Coast Path passes through town: pick it up and head eastwards to the Studland and Godlington Heath Nature Reserve to see the wild and nature-filled Wessex that inspired Thomas Hardy (or hire a steed from the trekking centre for extra historical detail). Going west, the path goes past the splendid sights of Stair Hole and Durdle Door (40 minutes), while descents of varying steepness lead down to quiet and cove-like beaches like Winspit (accessible only on foot from Worth Matravers, 10 minutes away) and Kimmeridge (half an hour). For a spot of time travel, pick up the Swanage Railway for a nine-mile steam trip to Wareham, perhaps stopping off en route for a clamber round the ruins of Corfe Castle (10 minutes). Younger visitors should have a ball among the play barns, pedal go-karts and pettable animals at the Putlake Adventure Farm, five minutes away. Further afield, there are pony rides, deer safaris, tractor trips and bouncy castles at Farmer Palmer's Farm Park (30 minutes), and at a similar distance the heavy hardware in The Tank Museum and the charming residents of Monkey World should keep everyone's monkeys out of mischief.
