- Family-run site set in a 20-acre field on an organic beef farm
- Within easy reach of Lulworth Cove, Ringstead beach and Durdle Door
- Pick your own pitch on arrival
Free spirits, feel constrained no more: you’re able to pick your own pitch at relaxed family-run Galton Campsite. Cluster with friends and family or retreat to a secluded corner of the spacious 20-acre Dorset site – it’s all up to you.
The site is on an organic farm with beef cattle, who graze on the grass pastures all around. Although it's a rural and peaceful spot, it's well placed for getting out and about for seaside and urban adventures: the Owermoigne location is a few minutes’ drive from the Jurassic Coast, with Osmington, Lulworth Cove and the famed Durdle Door all within a 15-minute drive.
Amenities include showers, toilets and a washing-up area. Campfires and barbecues are welcome and there’s a handy farm shop a few minutes’ trot away for supplies. Cross the road to the garden centre for restaurant eats, seek out one of the country pubs within a five-minute drive or find more options 15 minutes’ drive away in Dorchester or Weymouth.

Local attractions
The main draw around here is of course the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site – and what a stretch of shoreline it is too. Take a 10-minute drive to Osmington to poke around for ancient fossils, or head a little further east for the 15-minute drive to Lulworth for boat rides, kayaking and coasteering trips around the Durdle Door stone arch. There’s a fine stretch of sand here too if you’d rather settle in to admire it from afar.
Walkers can take in the finest sights by striking out on the South West Coast Path: there’s 96 miles of it in total but even short strolls will reward you with fine views. Meanwhile, if it’s a classic seaside day out you seek, it’s worth taking the 20-minute drive to the sandy beaches and traditional amusements at Weymouth.
And aside from the coast? Well, there’s much more to entice you into a day trip: Mill House Cider Museum (five minutes’ drive), Monkey World (10 minutes), the Tank Museum (10 minutes), the Sea Life animal park, ancient Corfe Castle (20 minutes) and Abbotsbury Swannery (35 minutes) are just a few of your options…
