What customers say

Peaceful, natural campsite with roomy, unregimented spots. Staff are super friendly & helpful, facilities sparkling clean, and the private keyed toilet is a big plus. Lovely views, chill vibes, great for dog walks. A bit of road noise at times & a covered washing-up area would be good; one guest had shower hot water issues.

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked Great site with loads of space - pitches mowed into long grass and you can choose your own. Great for dog walking. You're given a key to your own toilet. Really friendly staff.

Disliked I couldn't get any hot water in the shower despite following the instructions but luckily the weather was warm so I braved the cold water.

From the manager: Many thanks for your review!

Great to hear you enjoyed our campsite!

Please accept our apologies about the lack of hot water! It does happen occasionally but generally it only takes a few minutes to sort out once we are aware of it.

Thanks again from the Cannamore Camping team!

A super quiet site. Had our own private WC which is always a bonus.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked A lovely site in beautiful natural surroundings.

Welcomed by the owner Roy on arrival, and he took the trouble to find me a nice shady pitch in the lower field as it was heatwave conditions.

Well spaced individual pitches.

Spotlessly clean facilities, including my own composting portaloo in the lower field.

Hot water in the shower could be temperamental but Roy gave detailed instructions how to get it working.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Beautiful, safe and peaceful campsite, loved the large unregimented pitches set in wild flower meadow. Toilet and showers were so clean and we really appreciated having our own allocated toilet with key! Owners were so helpful and friendly.

Local attractions

Heading into Dartmoor National Park, look out for the wild ponies roaming its craggy landscape. Clamber up to the park’s signature granite tors like Combestone (half an hour’s drive), hike up to Whitelady Waterfall in Lydford Gorge (an hour), or follow trails to the Neolithic tombs at Merrivale Prehistoric Settlement (45 minutes), and the Bronze Age monument at Fernworthy Stone Circle (50 minutes). Cyclists have miles of bridleways and byways to pedal, including the Drake’s Trail through wooded valleys and open moorland. When days on the coast are calling, make for quiet Wonwell Beach (25 minutes) for picnics and dog walks, or Mothecombe (25 minutes) for rock pooling and paddling. Busier options include the popular sands at sailing-mad Salcombe (35 minutes), and sheltered Blackpool Sands (40 minutes, it’s shingle despite its name), which has a café and lifeguards in summer. As well as the seaside, other options for family days out include the petting zoo, kids’ rollercoasters and water rides at Woodlands Family Theme Park (25 minutes), and the pint-sized recreations of English landmarks and landscapes at Babbacombe Model Village (40 minutes).
