General

  • Secluded farm site close to Newton Abbot
  • A 10-minute drive from Exeter, Torquay and Teignmouth
  • Woodland walks all around and fishing lake and café/pub/shop on site

Haldon View Campsite is a secluded site set on a farm close to Newton Abbot. It's 10 minutes from Exeter, Torquay and Teignmouth so is an excellent base for a holiday in Devon.

The area is safe, with plenty of woodland walks including one from the site over a stream bridge and along a bridlepath to a country pub on the left and a restaurant and village on the right. Guests are welcome to walk dogs but please clean up any mess.

Haldon View also has a fishing lake, and a café/shop/pub with a wide range of drinks, goods and hot food.

Facilities include four toilets, two showers, a washing-up sink and a washer dryer. Facilities are provided free of charge: the site owners ask that all guests please leave them In a clean tidy condition, as this will help them keep costs down and have lower prices for their pitches.

Please note

Bookings must not be for more than 42 consecutive nights.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

This is a family-friendly site, so children will be playing on the swings and around the grounds. If you're likely to find this overly noisy, this may not be the site for you.

For the safety of children there are no cars allowed within the main camping area. If you need to park by your tent then please choose an electric grass pitch which is for motorhomes, tents and caravans. Pitches are no more than 50 metres from car park and most are a lot closer.

Showers were tiny, not ventilated and a bit grim to be honest

From the manager...

Hello, thanks for your comments, I am sorry you found the 1 metre wide shower tiny, most of our guests find it plenty big enough! We did install this larger shower a couple of years ago to accommodate larger guests but I guess there will always be people that find it too small.
Showers and toilets are cleaned twice a day but we cant account for the odd dirty sod leaving a mess after they have been cleaned, sadly its not possibly to clean after every guest.

Easy to find, large pitches with water and electric. Really friendly individual site with a warm welcome and nice cold beer on tap in the bar shed. Got everything really for a great price, not too busy or large - nice and relaxing. Local walks straight from the site and lots to explore, will definitely go back again.

Haldon view/sedgewell farm campsite. A little gem of a campsite, the boys are very welcoming and the site is a 'warm friendly' place to stay. We had a meal at the little restaurant/bar on the Friday to save cooking, and the food was superb, well cooked and presented, the menu, of necessity is not huge, but we both enjoyed the meal and the price. Apparently the food/bar is a new extension to their repertoire, well I can honestly say it was a ringing success as far as we were concerned, and the bar outside seating was very popular especially in the evenings. The facilities are very good, with two ladies and two gents loos, two sinks, two showers, and a dish washing sink, all kept very clean by the boys. There is also a fridge/freezer for campers to use, and a great play area for kids, with swings, rope ladder, sandpit etc. Newton abbot is ten minutes away with all the usual supermarkets, and even closer is Lidl's in Kingsteignton. Torbay is just twenty minutes away. There are some wonderful quirky things on site, including a converted double decker bus that you can rent for the week, and that is brilliant! There are also areas by the lake for wild camping.

    Disliked:

None really, but a bit more privacy for the personal wash areas would make my wife happier, but given the limited space, the boys have done a good job. Initially I was a bit put off by the fact that our pitch was devoid of grass and a bit stony, but as we are in the middle of a heatwave, that is to be expected, the rest were pretty good condition.
