What customers say
Great spot with heaps of room, ace views & a warm welcome. Walk to Hope Cove. Showers & loos spotless. Shop & food (pizza!) a hit. A few found access roads tight & shower payment a bit fiddly, with patchy WiFi. Owners are legends.

Disliked WiFi was a bit patchy on our pitch. And our ee signal was in and out but we were at the bottom of the site.

Liked We absolutely loved our stay at Karrageen — it really is a little gem of a campsite and the nicest campsite we’ve stayed at.
The location is simply stunning, with beautiful views across the Devon countryside towards the sea with spectacular sunsets viewed from the top field. The site feels wonderfully peaceful and spacious, with generous pitches and plenty of room around you, so even when it’s busy it never feels overcrowded.
The facilities were excellent with extra family toilets & shower room and also a unisex shower room. Everything was well maintained and cleaned on a regular basis. The whole campsite has a lovely family-run feel, and the owners were incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
It’s also perfectly placed for exploring the area. The walk down to Hope Cove is gorgeous, and a great spot for paddle boarding and kayaking, we even spotted a seal off the opposite shore as we kayaked around the cove, There are plenty of beautiful coastal walks and beaches nearby too.
We also loved the little touches — the on-site shop and the fresh bread in the morning were a real treat.
Karrageen has that rare combination of beautiful surroundings, peace and quiet, excellent facilities and genuinely warm hospitality. We left feeling completely relaxed and already talking about when we can come back. Highly recommended — we wouldn’t hesitate to return!

We had an amazing break and will definitely return in future
Unpowered grass site
Liked After reading many positive reviews about Karrageen Campsite, it had a lot to live up to. Thankfully it more than met our expectations. The family who run the site are welcoming, visible, friendly and informative and we were made to feel welcome form the point of arrival. Phil also made a daily walk around the site checking that everything was okay, which was very reassuring.
The views from the top field, where we were pitched, were amazing - we imagine it would be difficult to find a site with better views.
Although it was a bit of a stroll to the toilet blocks, and 20p was required for a shower or to do the washing up, we had no complaints as the facilities were spotless and there was never a queue for the showers.
The camp shop sells wood-fired pizzas every Saturday, which were delicious and we also had some of the Thai street food that is sold by an external provider on a Tuesday; also very enjoyable.
Probably the biggest draw to the site was the location and scenery - only a 20 minute walk into the picturesque Hope Cove. We made the walk numerous times during our stay.
Disliked Nothing, although some pitches are a little distance from the toilet blocks and require 20p for a shower or washing up, we willingly paid this due to the cleanliness and quality of facilities.

Liked Amazing views of surrounding landscape and sunsets from the top field.
Great facilities with spotless washrooms. Didn't mind having monet ready to use showers. Nice touch to have free shower gel and hand soap available.
Site shop has everything you'll ever need.
WiFi was a little patchy but you could access it at certain points round site so it actually allowed us some 'phone detox'!

Liked Very lovely site, great host. Clean and tidy.
Disliked Needed to pay for hot water when washing up and showering. Have paid for showers before but not washing up! A little bit odd.
