  • Back to basics dog-friendly site on a working dairy farm
  • A 10-minute drive to Kynance Cove; access the South West Coast Path
  • Barbecues and campfires allowed; pub within 15 minutes’ walk
If hiking all around the Lizard Peninsula has long been on your bucket list – or even if it’s your first time hearing of its sweet coves and southwesterly sea views – Cadgwith Camping will let you crack the coastal code. From this dog-friendly site on a working dairy farm with naturally splendid seaside scenery, you’ll be well set to forge your way towards nearby beaches, try local seafood specialities and snorkel over the busy reedbed (or dive into the deeper sea from the rockside) at the National Trust's Kynance Cove, 10 minutes’ drive away. Follow the sea breeze to the South West Coast Path, easily accessed just five minutes’ walk from the site. From here, you can hike to the lighthouse at Lizard Point (another National Trust site and the most southerly spot in the UK). En route, drop into Lizard village (also five minutes’ drive and a good shortcut to Lizard Point) for pubs/restaurants, cafés and food shops. For some of the most scrumptious crab sandwiches around, stroll in the opposite direction through peaceful country lanes to Cadgwith (15 minutes’ walk or five minutes’ drive), where the food you’ll eat is caught pretty much straight from the sea. Let the staff point you towards a local who will take you out yourself, so you can see what you can reel in too. And afterwards, you can nurse a pint in the pub or browse the seafood market. Take your catch back to the grill with an on-site barbecue or perhaps end the day beside the campfire, as they’re allowed on site too. Things are kept pretty basic here, as the site's geared towards wild camping with with just composting toilets and handmade portable shower cubicles – simply lay back and take in the sea views.

Unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked Natural and simple site. Loved it. Facilities basic but clean. Felt particularly friendly and welcoming. The food caravan cafe a definitepositive addition. Lovely not to be greeted with a degree of trust and not a rule book. Fabulous natural position with outlook and Cadgwith within walking distance.

Liked We stayed on the site for two nights and honestly had the most wonderful time. From the moment we arrived, Will, Cathy, and their lovely children, Elowen and Mawgan, made us feel so genuinely welcome.

The facilities were spot on, and the food truck was a real highlight, delicious meals that hit the spot after a day of exploring. The location couldn’t be better either. Just a short walk to the coast path, around 20 minutes to Cadgwith, and a scenic hour or so to the Lizard. Perfect for soaking in the beauty of the area.

All in all, it was fantastic value for money, and the warmth of the hosts really made it special. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked Beautiful sea views, very welcoming site, showers have plenty of hot water although are a little breezy, but we were unfortunate to have high winds and rain when we stayed! Lovely to have the cows roaming around too, very cute. Very close to the coastal path, which is great for those who enjoy walking.

The perfect place with the best hosts (& mini cows!)

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Friendly and warm, our welcome couldn’t have been any better. I loved the personal message before we arrived checking that we were okay en route. The campsite was clean with incredible views, we loved the tiny calves which wandered freely around the tents. The showers were open yet perfectly warm, the toilets were clean and well looked after. The owners checked in on us and we shared stories which was lovely. Our children are the same age (1&4). When I messaged about the possibility of a fire pit, it was delivered within moments with a friendly smile. I couldn’t recommend this campsite any more highly than I am doing right now. we will definitely be back next summer for a longer stay so we can enjoy exploring the Lizard further and all its beautiful surroundings.

Unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked This campsite is nothing short of perfect! Incredible views no matter where on the fields you are, and the most lovely hosts. You can tell they're not just nice because you're staying there, they're genuinely lovely people! The site itself is beautifully maintained, with clean composting loos and gorgeous hot showers. There are the friendliest cows roaming on the fields, including babies that have been hand reared and will literally cuddle you...cutest thing ever! We ended up staying an extra night because we loved it so much. Will definitely be returning before too long and staying for longer! The coastal walks are beyond stunning, and we took a lovely walk down to Cadgwith across the coastal path. The village is a lovely little fishing village and the walk to it is easy. Honestly I can't recommend this campsite enough.

Disliked Absolutely nothing to dislike!

Unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked It is in a lovely quiet setting with a great view of the sea. The host is very friendly and let's you choose where you would like to pitch. The site has hot showers, a wash up area and compost toilets which are very clean and tidy. There is also a chemical toilet waste.

Unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked Stunning location with unspoilt views of the bay, access to the coastal path and only a short walk (15 mins) to the village of Cadgwith.
The facilities were all we needed, and the showers were hot! Also enjoyed seeing the friendly calves roaming the field. The food truck was a bonus too, when we didn’t want to walk to pub or cook! It was 6k - a quite challenging coastal path walk to Lizard Point.

Local attractions

If you’re still hankering after more sea and sand, there are two beaches (with pretty cool seaside cafés too) at Kennack Sands (10 minutes’ drive). And if you fancy a plunge or just a slightly more challenging dip, the local activity centre (10 minutes) will introduce you to the sea through coasteering, kayaking and paddleboarding. There are walks and bays all around the Lizard Peninsula, but if you want something a little different, you can stroll through botanical gardens at Trebah Garden (35 minutes). Head a little further into Falmouth for Pendennis Castle (45 minutes), a pretty mighty fortress looking out to sea. Big or small, kids are likely to find one of their favourite rides at Flambards Theme Park (20 minutes). If you’re willing to travel a little further, The Eden Project (an hour and 20 minutes) also makes an intriguing day out, as the domes are home to rather huge tropical gardens.
