  • Dog-friendly site on a working dairy farm on the Lizard Heritage Coast
  • A 10-minute drive to Kynance Cove; access to the South West Coast Path
  • Barbecues and campfires allowed; pub within 15 minutes’ walk
If hiking all around the Lizard Peninsula has long been on your bucket list – or even if it’s your first time hearing of its sweet coves and southwesterly sea views – Cadgwith Camping will let you crack the coastal code. From this dog-friendly site on a working dairy farm with naturally splendid seaside scenery, you’ll be well set to forge your way towards nearby beaches, try local seafood specialities and snorkel over the busy reedbed (or dive into the deeper sea from the rockside) at the National Trust's Kynance Cove, 10 minutes’ drive away. Follow the sea breeze to the South West Coast Path, easily accessed just five minutes’ walk from the site. From here, you can hike to the lighthouse at Lizard Point (another National Trust site and the most southerly spot in the UK). En route, drop into Lizard village (also five minutes’ drive and a good shortcut to Lizard Point) for pubs/restaurants, cafés and food shops. For some of the most scrumptious crab sandwiches around, stroll in the opposite direction through peaceful country lanes to Cadgwith (15 minutes’ walk or five minutes’ drive), where the food you’ll eat is caught pretty much straight from the sea. Let the staff point you towards a local who will take you out yourself, so you can see what you can reel in too. And afterwards, you can nurse a pint in the pub or browse the seafood market. Take your catch back to the grill with an on-site barbecue or perhaps end the day beside the campfire, as they’re allowed on site too. Things are kept pretty basic here, as the site's geared towards wild camping with with just composting toilets and handmade portable shower cubicles – simply lay back and take in the sea views.

What customers say

Awesome spot with killer sea views and coast path access. Owners are legends, super helpful, and it's a chill vibe. Showers and toilets are decent, if a bit basic. Food truck's a ripper. Can get a bit busy and facilities stretched at peak times, but worth it!

Liked We love it here! This was our second time staying here as we loved it so much last year. The views are spectacular from the campsite, I could have spent all day sat at the campsite watch the shops come and go. It's spacious and even when busy there is plenty of space to pitch and run around. We visited as a family and it was perfect for them. The location is ideal; the coast path runs right past the campsite, we walked to Cadgwith via the devil's frying pan, we would have done more but were limited by our children's little legs. Composting toilets aren't for everyone but we like everything to be as eco friendly as possible. The showers were good for outdoor ones. The hot water for washing up was a bit hit and miss but the hosts Will and Cathy were always around if we needed anything and would have fixed it if we'd brought it up. The food van was also a godsend for a decent coffee in the morning! 😆

Disliked Not much to dislike, great views, good amenities and friendly hosts, we love the whole ethos of the eco friendly side of things. Just be warned it is back to basics with compost toilets and gas powered showers.

Unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked I wanted a night away locally in the van, time to unwind and switch off. What a perfect campsite.

Lovely hosts, welcoming and helpful. The site is lovely, cared for, plenty of space between pitches, with great views, and It felt comfortable as a solo female.

The compost loos were very clean also hot water available for a shower and washing up, simple, basic but all you need.

Loved the catering van offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I enjoyed a great pizza and the coffee was good too.

I will certainly recommend and visit again.

Unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked Will and Cathy the owners are just lovely, their little ones are polite and really well behaved and the dogs are cuddled bunnies what more in a way of a welcome could you ask for.
As for the site, spread over several fields there is loads of space, a far cry from some of the campsites that feel like carparks. The pitch was nice and level, Views are spectacular. Great quiet nights sleep.
Then icing on the cake was the full English cooked up by Will's fair hands in the onsite catering van.
The access is typically Cornish so be prepared to breath in, and remember, adventure lines prove you are using your van properly and t-cut was invented for a reason
I'm pretty certain I'll be back before too long

Unpowered grass tent site (backpacker, no cars)

Liked Last week we went off-grid (and slightly off our rockers) and camped at Cadgwith Campsite in the Lizard, Cornwall… and let me tell you, it was gloriously basic in the best possible way.

Think: breathtaking coastal views, fresh sea air, and… al fresco pooping. That’s right, this isn’t your average campsite with tiled washrooms and hairdryers. No sir. This is back-to-nature, birdsong-in-the-bushes, toilet-with-a-sky-roof kind of camping. If you’ve never done your business while admiring the Cornish countryside cows moo-ing in the distance, you’re missing out on one of life’s more humbling (and breezy) experiences.

The hosts? Absolute gems. Friendly, helpful, and so chilled they probably butter their crumpets with sea breeze. Warm showers were available (and surprisingly wonderful), and the whole place had a vibe that screamed: “relax, you’re on Earth’s edge now.”

There’s a catering van on-site, run by the hosts themselves, and oh my word, it’s a game-changer. Think rich, proper coffee, belly-hugging breakfasts, and tasty bites all at very reasonable prices. After a night under canvas and a dawn wake-up call from the local cow choir, that first coffee hits like a spiritual awakening.

The views were so beautiful and the lull of the ocean was enough to lull you to sleep. The cliffs, green rolling hills, and stunning buildings in the distance, it’s like camping inside a postcard.

And then there was The Night of the Shanty. We ventured along the coastal path (read: heroic cliffside stumble) to the Cadgwith Cove Inn, where the beer flowed, the sea shanty singers roared, and we may or may not have joined in on a chorus despite knowing only 0% of the lyrics and 0% of the pitch. The return hike under the stars was part adventure, part survival exercise. Worth every misplaced footstep.
Make sure you take a torch!

If you’re after glamping, this ain’t it. But if you like your camping real, raw, and just a little ridiculous, Cadgwith Camping is your new happy place.

This site does not have wifi but we didn’t struggle with cellular signal! Which was a bonus on the days that the weather was abit gloomy!

Highly recommend – bring your own torch, a healthy respect for walking to make most of the scenery, and leave your dignity at the gate. 🏕️💩🌿☕🍳🎶🍻

Great location, seaview!
Awoke to the sound of roosters and cows.

Would recommend.

From the manager: Just a quick note for future campers: there’s no Wi-Fi out in the field (a perfect chance to unplug and enjoy nature!), but you’ll still have 5G service onsite if you need to stay connected.

Liked A great relaxed site, in an attractive convenient location for kayaking, walking and fishing. Was concerned about the limited loos , showers and dish washing facilities on an August bank holiday, but didn't have to queue once. Friendly and helpful staff.

Disliked Just don't bother shaving during your visit. No mirrors or sinks, except the 3 dish washing sinks.

Liked The location
The fantastic friendly staff - especially Will on the grill
The facilities
Just everything about this campsite

This camp site is an absolute gem, if you're looking for actual camping and I mean staying amongst nature with the added bonus of it being a working farm. Then you've got the right place, you'll see Will and his family working hard pretty much all day, whether that's herding escapees, cleaning the facilities or cooking up a storm in the on site food van coastal cravings. It's quiet but close to shops and local attractions, hot showers and the loos are cleaned regularly.

The views are unreal, do yourself a favour and get up for a sunrise - thank you Will for letting us know where's best to look from!

Overall just a totally relaxed, free living atmosphere here! We will definitely be back and thanks so much for having us!

Liked Great stay, the views were idyllic, meters away from the coast path. Hosts were super friendly and the arrival was very smooth. Facilities were good and there’s catering throughout the day

Disliked One more toilet in the busy season could be good.

Local attractions

If you’re still hankering after more sea and sand, there are two beaches (with pretty cool seaside cafés too) at Kennack Sands (10 minutes’ drive). And if you fancy a plunge or just a slightly more challenging dip, the local activity centre (10 minutes) will introduce you to the sea through coasteering, kayaking and paddleboarding. There are walks and bays all around the Lizard Peninsula, but if you want something a little different, you can stroll through botanical gardens at Trebah Garden (35 minutes). Head a little further into Falmouth for Pendennis Castle (45 minutes), a pretty mighty fortress looking out to sea. If you’re willing to travel a little further, The Eden Project (an hour and 20 minutes) also makes an intriguing day out, as the domes are home to rather huge tropical gardens.
