Handy location and peaceful site30/09/2022

Nice peaceful location, far enough from St Ives to not caught up in traffic to and from it. Large pitches so plenty of space to spread out, set up awning etc

    Disliked:

Everything on site was closed, which I hadn't known, as it was getting the end of the season for this site (mid September). This had a slightly negative impact as there were no staff to ask questions, and they were unresponsive to calls and emails.

The welcome email for my visit, with all the instructions I needed, arrived two days after check in.

Large and well laid out clean campsite with good facilities. Some food facilites were closed as itd out of season but it was perfect for a short stay.

    Disliked:

It's a little out of town so getting to local pubs was a little tricky on a dark night with no pavements to walk on.

    Big spacious pitches.

    Disliked:

Sad to see such a great site being abandoned and not being looked after. We booked for 3 nights and couldn’t wait to leave. Facilities were dated however that wouldn’t be a problem if they would be cleaned at least once. We didn’t see any staff members at all during our stay. On arrival we rang the phone number as it says on reception door and waited for somebody to turn up and give us the pitch number, not sure who the person was as there was no introduction but it seemed like we disturbed her of doing something and she didn’t seem interested at all. We were brought into reception which looked where unprofessional and messy, also the smell of moisture and probably mould was terrific.
Bar also looked like it’s been abandoned years ago and so did play room, also as per previous reviews it was all closed.
There was little cabin for the book swap which I thought was great idea but unfortunately the two books that were there had pages ripped out. Also door to the cabin was open all the time day and night and it was raining all the time so all the leaflets on there were all soaked and all over the place.
Creepy little kids were pestering us to the point where they followed my partner into shower rooms and just stood waiting for him outside, keep asking to go look over the fields at the cows and chase rabbits, no idea what’s that all about. Every day when we returned from the day out and wanted to relax they would appear from now where the minute our camper door was open, to the point where we couldn’t sit outside as they were keep lurking through the bushes and messing around asking us questions about what we like what we having for dinner and so on. I have told them multiple times to back off and go pester their parents but they wouldn’t listen. On the last day another couple arrived and by then we just sat inside all evening watching them pester the new arrivals.
Hand written warning note about ‘not sh**** in the showers’ was a cherry on the top.
This place could really do with some new owners who cares!

Grim facilities and needs a deep clean14/09/2022

Location to St Ives, Penzance and Lands End.

    Disliked:

We had no issue with the lack of facilities such as no shop and food outlets (possibly due to it being end of season) but the general state of the site and the lack of cleanliness of the toilet and shower blocks was unforgiveable. The whole place needed a good scrub and using the toilet and shower was a grim experience. A note in the male cubicles about "not sh**ing in the shower"??!! Maybe not the sites fault but the overflowing bins and lack of recycling facilities was shameful. Take no joy in leaving this review as fully appreciate the struggle of small businesses with shortage of staff problems but the basics - cleanliness - are not negotiable. Would not return and would not recommend unless the place had a major overhaul. Thankfully we only had 2 nights there but ironically was the most expensive!

Spacious , great views, electric hook up on arrival , we booked on pitch up and no electric hook ups to book but so incorrect.
A quiet campsite, with a play area for children.
    Regular bus to St Ives.
Showers and toilets clean and fully equipped.

    Disliked:

The torn flag flying says it all, it must of been a fabulous campsite in its day with all facilities open.
There's far too much out dated signage, which needs removing and updating.
Reception, shop, bar all closed due to lack of staff.
    It could be amazing.

Local attractions

The art galleries, craft galleries and inns and restaurants of St Ives are all easy to get to from the site, as it's only five minutes' drive from the town centre. Parking can be a bit tricky in town in high season, so save stress – and cash – by taking the bus, running five times a day from right outside the site.

St Ives's beaches are among the many highly scenic swathes of sand around Higher Penderleath Caravan and Camping Park and the Land's End part of Cornwall, almost all with easy access to spectacular walks along the South West Coast Path where short stretches or longer hikes in either direction are easy to find.

Penzance five miles from base is a 20-minute walk from Cornish landmark St Michael's Mount, the tiny tidal island linked to the town of Marazion by causeway. Further along at 16 miles is Land's End, via Porthcurno and the smashing cliffside Minack Theatre.
