What customers say
Boscoppa Farm boasts epic views and a chilled vibe. Visitors loved the spick-and-span facilities, top-notch hosts, and fair prices. Cabins and bell tents were comfy. A few noted dodgy hot water/lights from solar, and wood for fires. Some reckon more loos needed when busy, and bell tents are a bit close. Track's a bit rough but you’ll get there.

Great location and views, but the facilities need improving.
Bell tent
Liked The bell tent was better than I expected. It was nicely furnished with a proper bed, bedside tables, a table at the end of the bed, a rug and a log burner (although it was far too warm for us to use it), so it felt much more comfortable than normal camping.
The campsite has lovely views out over St Austell and towards the sea, and it's in a really good location for exploring mid-Cornwall. We found it to be fairly quiet overall, and the lady cleaning the facilities was really friendly.
Disliked The biggest downside was the facilities. There were only two combined shower and toilet rooms serving the bell tents, emperor tents, campervans and camping pitches. Because the showers and toilets are combined, if someone's having a shower and someone else needs the loo, it can create queues. From our bell tent it was quite a walk to the toilets, showers and washing-up area, and some of the accommodation was even further away.
Although the campsite is generally peaceful, it's next to an A-road so you do hear motorbikes at times, particularly in the evenings. You can also hear concerts from the Eden Project quite clearly. We actually thought that was quite fun, but if you're looking for complete peace and quiet it's worth bearing in mind.
The arrival information could also be clearer. The website says to ring when you arrive, so because we thought we might be late I called in advance. I was then told it was self check-in anyway, so we could simply have arrived whenever we wanted. It wasn't a big issue, but the information could be more consistent.
I also phoned beforehand to ask about cooking on the fire pit and was told logs were available, so I bought briquettes on the way. When we arrived, we found the logs were £7.50 a bag. If I'd known that beforehand, I'd have bought logs from the shop as well. The bags also contained some oversized and partly burnt logs, so they didn't feel like great value.
The beds could also be sturdier. They creaked a lot and one corner of the slatted base dropped through when weight was put on the edge. It was easy enough to fix, but they could definitely do with being a bit more solid. Better lighting in the bell tents would also be a nice improvement.

Barrel 1 bedroom camping pod
Liked Such a beautiful place with a beautiful view. The campsite is a small campsite situated on top of the hill overlooking carlyon bay. It's quiet, peaceful and just what is needed if you want to get away from it all. We stayed in one of the cabins - it was clean, comfortable and exactly what we were hoping for. Every pitch is provided with a picnic bench, fire pit and space to relax by the accommodation. Showers and toilets were clean. The site is very well managed and the owners were very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back.
Disliked The only thing that we disliked was having to come home! O could quite happily have stayed there a little while longer!

Liked Great setting, fantastic view, facilities were good. You just need to have confidence in the signs, you are going the correct way. The track is a little bumpy, but well worth it.

Spent 7 nights on Boscoppa Farm - highly recommend!
Bell tent
Liked We spent 7 nights at Boscoppa Farm so we could explore the South Coast of Cornwall.
It was the perfect place to base ourselves to visit places such as Fowey, Eden Project, Mevagissey, Charlestown and The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
The hosts were really attentive for the whole time at the farm and very responsive to our needs.
The bell tents were lovely and spacious, and we loved using the stove to warm the tent up and cook at night. The double bed in the tent was so comfortable!
The views from the top of the farm were unparalleled and really made the trip. It was so nice waking up to the view and having breakfast on the picnic tables provided.
We initially booked the bell tent for 7 nights but the hosts kindly upgraded us free of charge to the barrel cabins half way through our stay as the weather turned and the cabins offer slightly better shelter.
We absolutely loved the barrel cabin - less space than the bell tents but it was so warm and cosy at night, so it really depends on your priorities over which you might prefer to book. The cabins are also closer to the toilet and shower facilities, should you need to go at night/in the dark!
Overall, we had a great time staying at the farm and can highly recommend - it is everything you need from a stay, especially for the price.
Disliked Nothing we did not like really, but a few minor points.
We did not always have hot water in the mornings for the shower, I think because they rely on solar panels. This also meant the lights sometimes did not come on at night when using the toilet. This is OK as you are provided with other lights/lanterns that can be used.
There was no wood available to buy from the farm for the bell tent stoves during our stay however, we bumped into the owner who kindly provided us with a big bag of dry wood to use during our first few nights.
It would be helpful to ensure wood is restocked for guests, as the tents do get cold at night without the stove. I do know wood is usually provided however, so shouldn't be an issue for anyone thinking about staying in the future.

Excellent setting, friendly owners, spectacular setting, lovely tent
Bell tent
Liked The tents are beautiful, bed is very comfortable and the view are spectacular. Shower and toilet very clean
Disliked No wood for the wood burning stove and it was incredibly cold - if wood is not going to be provided this should be mentioned so people can bring their own. Maybe a warmer blanket should be provided so people have the option to use it.
When we went there were 14 people on site and there are only 2 toilets and showers, so I would suggest another couple of shower/toilet units.

From the manager: Hi Hazel,
Many thanks for your lovely review, we really appreciate you taking the time.
We do sell wood for the log burners at the campsite. We are currently in the process of putting it somewhere more obvious so guests don’t miss it.
All the best

Small, friendly, peaceful site with all the camping basics covered.
Unpowered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site
Liked Everything was exactly as described on the Boscoppa Farm website.
The"Keep Going!" sign was a great morale boost, just as I was losing confidence that we were still on the correct lane to get us to our pitch at the top of the camping field (with a beautiful outlook), and there was plenty of space to park up, especially since we were overnighting on the Thursday before the May Bank Holiday Weekend.
Aliki and Lawrance came to meet us as soon as we phoned to let them know we had arrived, and were extremely welcoming - a lovely couple!
The on-site WC and shower cabins (x 2) were spotless, complete with toilet paper, hot water, soap and scented diffusers.
Slightly disappointed that I can't personally review the washing-up station, as my wife had taken charge of doing the dishes (on a temporary basis, she assures me) but that also looked to be on point, as did the waste disposal facilities.
We were only there for one night, leaving early(ish) to get to the Eden Project, but the potential for spending some genuine "quiet time", surrounded by nature, the view, and some good reading material was pretty obvious.
There are no shops or pubs within hailing distance (you could, of course, make an expedition or two) so you'd be well advised to bring some consumables with you.
