  • Heated indoor pool, kids' pool and on-site bar and eatery
Woohoo, pool times for grownups and kids too! Family-friendly Newperran Holiday Park near Newquay has a smart, modern heated indoor pool, with a separate paddling pool for babies and toddlers to learn to swim safely. Prefer to be out in the fresh air? This is a spacious site, in an elevated position over the Cornish countryside with sea views in the distance – they're best viewed from the park's lovely dog walking field. The park has three modern toilet and shower blocks with individual shower cubicles and shaver points, as well as disabled facilities. You'll be allowed to bring a barbecue for outdoor cooking if you like, but if you'd rather save your energy, treat yourself to a cool drink or shelter from the weather you can make for the comfy Sunset Bar and Restaurant (opening times vary throughout the year).

What customers say

Great spot near Newquay/Perranporth. Pool and staff get a thumbs up. Toilets/showers are a bit hit-and-miss, and the arcade/cafe can be patchy. Being able to pick your spot is a bonus.

Extreme value for money

Disliked The camping toilets just something wasn’t right. I don’t know if it’s because it was busy but always just seemed very wet and dirty. I personally think a block would be better.

Liked Campsite was lovely. Very clean and looked after. Staff were very friendly. Would definitely go back again for sure. Lovely dog walking area.

Disliked Only issue I would say is the showers. The hot water doesn’t last very long but I know they are getting new ones next year so to be honest it’s that big a deal. I would say that when it comes to ordering food on a busy night they chef can’t cope and shuts the kitchen down until he’s caught up. But saying that we went up to order and was told to go bk up in 15minutes as they aren’t taking any more orders till then. But when going back up they told me I would have to wait 30minutes to order as the kitchen is very busy and that’s because in that 15minutes they took food orders. I did complain as I had young children to feed and they allowed me to order. I would say the kitchen needs more help.

Liked Beautiful surroundings.

Disliked The biggest downside is the lack of toilets and showers. There are only two sinks for washing dishes, so there are always long queues, especially in the mornings and evenings. We had to wait up to 30 minutes at times. The shower/toilet cubicles were often flooded with water and covered in straw, making them unpleasant to use. Toilet paper was also frequently unavailable. The facilities are simply not sufficient for the number of guests.

Liked Great location. Plenty of space. The bar/pub has a good choice of food and drink and the kids loved the entertainment
The staff are excellent, really friendly. We asked at the guest services if we could plug our electric cooler and power bank in a few times and it was never a problem. All the guests were really respectful and kept the noise to a minimum past 10pm. The staff came round every day to check everything was ok and if there were any problems to report.

We booked for another week while we were there, I'd definitely recommend for the price and we would happily return.

Disliked The showers and toilets are good but the floor can get really dirty at times with grass and water, which was slightly inconvenient as you couldn't really put your feet on the floor after a shower, or if you're wearing crocs/flip flops the water would reach your feet. It would be better if a floor squeegee could be provided so guests can give the floor a quick clean after themselves. There were two cubicles with only showers, it would be ideal if these could also have a little bin and a mirror on the back of the door.

But this wouldn't stop us returning.

Liked The food in the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and attentive. very good location to Perranporth and Newquay - but also only 40 mins tomany other great attractions. Pool was lovely too - changing rooms and toilets there very nice and clean.

Disliked The toilets and showers. I recognise that this is often dependant on the people using them to help keep them clean. However the ones where the single shower and toilets, the water seems to come from the shower into the toilet. The toilets and showers themselves were OK. it was the floors, constantly full of water.

Liked Great size site with very large pitches, clean pool and great tasting food, great price and friendly helpful staff. Great view of sunset from Idless field, including ocean. Nearest shop is Londis about 1 mile away, great selection

Disliked Communal toilets and showers would have benefited from cleaning at least twice, preferably 3 times a day, but staff took in board suggestion of a squeegee wipe so we could clean the floor ourselves as this was the main issue.

Local attractions

There’s plenty to please all tastes around here, such as coarse fishing at the nearby lakes; teeing off at Perranporth's 18-hole golf course; horse riding at Reen Manor and surf lessons nearby for beginners. For a shopping day, shop in the cathedral city of Truro, eight miles from Newperran: the Pannier Market is the biggest in the area and farmers’ markets are at Lemon Quay on Wednesdays and Saturdays as well as food, drink, art and craft fairs held on the quay on various Saturdays. Newquay is even closer than Truro – about five miles away – and Perranporth beach is just two miles away; both are top surfing beaches and surf schools and surf shops are on hand for the newly wetsuited. If you prefer messing about on land, there’s plenty to do out of the water too: most Cornish villages have flower and music festivals at some point in the summer and there are carnival and regatta weeks regularly held in the bigger towns. From Newperran you’ll be within easy driving distance of most of the top attractions of this part of Cornwall such as the Tate Gallery at St Ives, the clifftop Minack Theatre at Porthcurno and, going north, King Arthur’s haunt Tintagel and the prettiness of Port Isaac. Sticking closer to Newquay, it’s not all about the surf: Newquay Zoo and its hundreds of species is tickety-boo for a family day out, and the award-winning DairyLand Farmworld is right on for rainy days with a humongous indoor play area alongside tractor rides, a nature trail and farm animals. Fisher folk can get their hook on at shoals of sea, lake and river fishing around Newquay and Cornwall: as well as the discounted coarse fishing near Newperran Holiday Park, try angling for some time fishing from Newquay Harbour where there are also boats for hire and sea safari trips to see the Newquay grey seals. Or just pack a picnic and take to your feet for hikes and strolls around the Cornish countryside and coast: start from Newquay’s Trenance Gardens and meander along the River Gannel to Crantock; hike the headlands from Newquay Golf Club, or take a promenade from Perranporth to St Agnes to take in some mining history. The South West Coast Path has a 12-mile walk from Newquay to Perranporth, crossing famed Fistral Beach.
