  • Quiet and secure pop-up site in three acres of garden surrounds
  • In the small village of Valley Truckle, a mile from Camelford
  • Dog-friendly site with easy access to the A39
Camping, in Cornwall, near the coast?… Everything at Sycamores Camping points to a winning combination indeed, with the added bonus of being able to pitch up in a private and level three-acre paddock surrounded by floral gardens and Cornish hedging. Set right off the A39, this family-friendly site is a pop-up affair, with basic portable toilets for ladies and gents, hot showers and great access to many of Cornwall's best beaches. A south-facing position, splendid sunsets and a backing track of birdsong all make Sycamores a relaxing place to stay – one that's within easy reach of the wilds of Bodmin Moor, north Cornwall’s secluded sandy coves and King Arthur's castle at Tintagel. This site is located in the small village of Valley Truckle, a mile from Camelford. Amenities in this latter spot are varied, but highlights include takeaways, a well-stocked supermarket, a pub, a swimming pool and a fish and chip shop. Finally, there's a convenience store and garage directly opposite the site entrance for any last-minute dashes for supplies. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to come and stay with you at this pet-friendly site.

Bell tent

Liked: - plenty of safe space for children to run around. There is a gate to the main road which is kept shut and is beyond the camping pitches anyway. Easy to keep sight on small children without having to follow them around at close quarters. So you can relax with a cuppa and watch them run around. - spacious level pitch - campfires allowed. The kids LOVED this and it made up for us not choosing a campsite with play area, pool, etc etc. - All the basic facilities you need (portaloos, tap, sponge, washing up liquid and bowl, three solar-powered open fronted- but facing a thick hedge for privacy- showers). All clean and working. - bell tent was very well equipped. You don’t need to bring anything apart from bedding, a torch and I would suggest a fold up airer and some S hooks if you have them for hanging wet things, or anything up. We brought a lot of our own stuff. If you do that you can pop the provided things you won’t use in an old caravan which is used for dry storage. - Brilliant location nearby all sorts of sights such as Tintagel Castle, beaches, Bodmin Moor, Camel Trail, etc. We were busy every day. - petrol station on the other side of the main road might not be the prettiest but it is useful for walking over to to get milk for your morning tea or pasties to take for lunch on the beach, or buying more sun cream! And it’s screened by mature trees so you only see the shop sign and associated glow from the campsite. - It is a main road but it didn’t disturb us as we were well set back from it and couldn’t see it. We used the campsite as a base for day trips and somewhere to relax late afternoon onwards. It was perfect for this. - Alison was a great host who lives in a house on the site. We had a relaxed stay with three small children in a bell tent for 11 nights and would return. - There are no swings/slides etc but it was nice for the children to run round and make their own games up. We brought activity books, balls, etc with us. -pretty campsite with loads of flowers in the garden on your way in. Alison won a trophy for her blooms while we were there. -Good value accommodation which meant we had more money to spend on experiences, like pony trekking on Bodmin :)

Unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked: The host was very helpful and went above and beyond to accommodate. Facilities were immaculate. Having camped at open meadow sites before arriving we found the pitch size a bit small and the site somewhat overcrowded, plus it w is next to a busy road.
