General
- Family-run farm site overlooking its own vineyard
- Between 20 and 25 minutes from The Hop Farm and Leeds Castle
- Many more vineyards nearby: help available to arrange tours/tastings
You may have heard that the lush county of Kent has rather a few vineyards. Over 50, in vino fact, many of which should be ambled around on a Kent holiday of any type to source many, clanking, souvenirs.
And if you're keen to source Kent wine but don't want to go too far? Bed down at the green and spacious setting of Far Acre Farm 12 miles from Tonbridge, where a vineyard has been flourishing opposite the farm since 2010, to produce still and sparkling wines from pinot noir, pinot meunier, bacchus and chardonnay grapes: bottles and cases available, of course, to buy (the team particularly recommends its sparkling blanc de noir).
Far Acre has easy access to local attractions such as The Hop Farm, Bedgebury, Sissinghurst and Leeds Castle. It's close too to other Kent vineyards if your samples here make you eager to meander further; the Far Acre owners can arrange tours and tastings if you let them know in advance.
The site covers two and a half acres of handsome and level Weald of Kent ground, in a region once famed for its hops and apples and now known for its home-produced sparkling wines. It's a family-friendly and pet-friendly place, with plenty of room for roaming, playing or canine-led walkies, and is in a splendid setting for evening campfires (with wine), using the Far Acre upcycled fire baskets and firewood.
Amenities include showers and toilets, a washing-up area, charging facilities, chemical disposal and ice pack freezing.

Local attractions
It's easy to get out and about around Kent, the seaside and the south of England from around here, either by road or via the excellent rail connections to London and the coast from Tonbridge within half an hour's drive. Trains depart regularly to London Victoria, Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells, as well as to Dover Priory, Ramsgate and Maidstone.
Have a family day out at famed The Hop Farm, the 400-acre country park with a huge amount of stuff to see and do to keep kids and grownups (and possibly even teens) fully occupied, around the period village recreation, museum and wealth of attractions including a magic castle, theatre, soft play and inflatable boats and slides. Giant jumping pillows, a petting farm and a kids' driving school are around for excitable small sorts, while bigger types should like the falconry centre and the 4D cinema.
The miles of walking and cycling trails of Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest, and the famed Grade I-listed gardens of Sissinghurst Castle are both 15 minutes away.

Hello James
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and I'm very sorry about the hot water.
Someone had actually gone into our consumer unit (above head height so I'm assuming an adult!) and switched the hot water switch off!*
I didn't know this until another camper kindly told me at about 4pm that there was no hot water. Within just 40 minutes of being told of the problem, hot water in the tank was back on!
As I say when people arrive, let me know if something is wrong and I'll do my best to fix it.
*This has never happened before, but I'm now fitting a lock around the consumer unit so it can't be 'tinkered' with again.
