What customers say

Spot on for a clean site with roomy spots and legend staff. Great welcome, tidy facilities, chill vibe, and a top base for exploring west. Showers a bit tight for some, but still a ripper time for most.

Liked Fantastic campsite, staff were exceptionally friendly, it was beautifully kept and a brilliant location. Everything you could wish for in a campsite. If I was to have one criticism it would be that some of the cubicles were small/tight in the facilities block. I would definitely like to stay again.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked Clear organisation of good sized pitches (space for a car and a tent). On-site staff were friendly and helpful. Pitches are clean and level with well mown grass but not golfing green level - so make sure the area where you pitch is not on a fall. Very little traffic noise and no music policy helped create a peaceful environment for sleeping. Facilities were clean and tidy on a busy bank holiday weekend. Having bus stops outside the entrance was a bonus, making it easy to get to e.g., Yarmouth, Newport and Alum Bay.

Liked We had a lovely couple of night here, as a family of four, kids 8 & 10. Location is great, the hosts were immediately friendly and helpful, the showers and toilets were always clean and stocked, even when they were close to the cleaning time. The space for the kids to run around is brilliant and safe and my youngest really appreciated the no dogs option as he is scared of even the friendliest dog. We would definitely return.

Disliked Honestly - nothing. We were very happy indeed.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked A friendly, well sized campsite in a great location.
We stayed here recently in our roof tent and it was walking distance to the beach but even better was the entrance to the campsite is on the bus route, so we were able to explore without packing our camp up and driving.
The staff wee so polite, helpful and inviting. Nothing was too much trouble and it was very refreshing!
The dog walking field was perfect as well as the children’s play areas.
Heathfield is easily my favourite campsite and we will definitely stay here again.

Disliked Showers were quite small and tricky with a little person, but this is literally the only thing I would’ve changed about the site.

Liked Beautiful rural campsite with very attentive site staff. There are a huge number of water taps and bins, with recycling much easier and clearer than any other campsite I've stayed in yet. The toilet and shower blocks are kept clean and well stocked with toilet paper. The station for camper vans to empty their toilets, grey water and to top up with fresh water is great too. The site staff really welcome and make a fuss of any dogs and the dog walking field is a brilliant facility and the dog poo bin was clearly emptied frequently, as are all the other bins. We had a lovely stay here and loved the fact we could leave the camper, awning and seats etc set up and walk to the beach, coast path, the shops in Freshwater or even Golden Hill Fort Country Park. Next year we might even make use of the buses which can be boarded just a short distance from the site. 😊.

Liked Great set up for families with a dedicated field for games to set the little ones free! Spotlessly clean facilities and a very well kept site. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Quiet at night and very restful. Short walk (pushchair friendly) to the beach and local village. Would highly recommend.

Local attractions

Everywhere on the Isle of Wight is easily reachable by bus or car in the short sort of time that makes the eyes of London commuters water, but if you want to start off on the west side there’s more than enough here to keep all ages happy. Freshwater’s large village (former home of Tennyson, poetry peeps) is edged by the chalk cliffs of Freshwater Bay and its beach, a mix of sand, pebbles and waves popular with watersporters. The 67 miles of spectacularly scenic trail that is the Isle of Wight Coastal Path include a patch through Freshwater: walk two miles from Heathfield to Yarmouth to access the 14-mile walk to Brighstone, and from there the eight miles to Niton. If 67 miles of coastline isn’t enough, the Isle of Wight has over 500 miles of public pathways through towns and villages, over downs and fields, up hills and through woodland: guided tours, including fossil walks, are available all over the island and a walking festival is run every spring and autumn.
