What customers say

Peaceful farm site with great views & level pitches. Friendly owners, excellent eco-facilities (clean loos, showers, fire pits). Fresh eggs & walks are a bonus. Watch out for wind & the occasional wait for the single shower/loo.

Liked Lovely location, great views, busy arable farm setting.

Disliked Showers very basic, site is open to the elements in bad weather, be great though in hot summer conditions.

Liked Very large pitch with facilities close by, the children loved the occasional chicken running round, and the sheep in the next field. The facilities were spot-on & it was great value for money. Nice quiet site in a pretty dark spot too if you like stargazing.

Disliked The cockerels woke the children earlier than I would have liked, but we were staying on a working farm so I should have anticipated an early start!

Unpowered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site

Liked Beautiful views, sitting out at night with a firepit looking at the stars which are amazing as there's so little light pollution, buying fresh eggs for breakfast... just everything. This was our second visit to the site as we'd discovered it as a stoppoff on the way back from Scotland and it was every bit as great as we hoped. Fantastic walking in the area and beautiful historic sites to visit such as Riveaux Abbey and Helmsley Castle (great walk between the two).

Disliked Nothing.

Liked Nice big pitch. Quiet campsite. Liked that we could have a fire, plenty of firepits available and bench’s at the plot. Flushable toilet with shower next to our plot. Compost toilet at the other side of the site.

Liked Lovely quiet spot, really friendly welcome.
Some great running routes nearby, definite bonus!

Disliked We were the only people on the field, so it was great, but if it was fuller then there would probably be a queue for the washing sink and shower.

Liked Very peaceful, lovely for walking with amazing scenery. Owners couldn’t do enough for you. Very clean and tidy with wood, bbqs and fire pits available. Communal freezer came in handy. We will 100% be back.

Disliked Would recommend a gazebo or large umbrella if the weathers nice as there no shade at all. But overall, nothing to dislike.

Skylark bell tent

Liked Loved the farm/camp it was lovely and maintained, small and just enough room. The private area around the bell tent was so lovely.

Disliked The airbed provided had a few holes in (taped up) and by 1am was almost deflated!! Although this didn’t interrupt too much sleep it was the only downfall!

Liked Lovely peaceful site for our first camping trip.
Pitches spotless no stones and lush grass.
Amenities spotless and hand soap and cream was beautiful.
Loved waking up to the aminals and hearing the rooster.
Stargazing on an evening around a roaring fire was an absolute dream. Hosts eggs and jam were phenomenal and we ate them daily.
Lovely and peaceful as we don't really like loud and busy places so this was ideal for us.
Wonderful site.

Disliked Would suit a seperate shower/toilet situation

Local attractions

Wethercote Farm Campsite is a handy overnight stop for hikers on the Cleveland Way National Trail (15 minutes’ walk), and within a five-minute drive you are at the top of steep Sutton Bank for views of the mid-19th-century chalk Kilburn White Horse; on clear day you’ll also have panoramas right across the Vale of York. At the Sutton Bank National Park Centre (five minutes’ drive), there’s a café, small store and bike hire as well as lots of visitor information about this spectacular part of the world. You can walk to Rievaulx Abbey (an hour’s walk) for a wander around the lovely cloisters, and then move on to Rievaulx Terrace (another 20 minutes) for views back over the abbey grounds. York (50 minutes) is a treasure trove of history, from its Gothic Minster to the medieval cobbled street of The Shambles, lined with dinky souvenir shops. There’s more history to be discovered at Castle Howard (half an hour), the setting for many a TV drama, with tours of the house and gardens designed by John Vanbrugh. Thirsk has also had its moment of TV fame as home of ‘The Yorkshire Vet’ documentary series and The World Of James Herriot (15 minutes), with displays in a vet’s restored 1940s home and surgery – and for a day full of fun on adrenaline rides, head for Flamingo Land Resort (40 minutes).
