Camping field looking over cliffs to the north sea
Spectacular sunsets
Campfire

  • Pop-up North Yorkshire site with spectacular views to Scarborough
  • On the Cleveland Way National Trail; Cayton Bay five minutes’ drive
  • Off-grid with all pitches facing the sea; farm shop 15 minutes’ walk
The clue’s in the name at Scarborough Sea View Camping, a clifftop retreat on the North Yorkshire coast. All the pitches face the coast, so you will indeed have spectacular views over the sea, in this case the North Sea to Scarborough (15 minutes’ drive), giving you a front-row seat on one of England’s most spectacular coastlines. Here you can wake to vibrant sunrises and cosy up on clear evenings to watch sunsets in the west. And there’s plenty more going for this peaceful site as well: walkers will perk up on hearing that it’s right on the Cleveland Way National Trail, surfers can catch waves at popular Cayton Bay (five minutes’ drive), and families can head for Go Ape or scenic biking trails in Dalby Forest (40 minutes). There’s also a farm shop 15 minutes’ walk away where you can get a decent coffee and homemade food. There’s plenty of room so you’re free to pitch up where you wish. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and barbecues or firepits are allowed as long as they’re raised off the ground to protect the grass. A couple of words of caution though: Scarborough Sea View Camping is exposed. It can get very windy at times, so take care when erecting tents and ensure everything is well secured. Facilities are simple: there are chemical toilets and a water supply (although this comes directly from the mains, the site owners recommend that, for your safety, you use bottled water for drinking) – note that there are no showers on site. The access road is alongside a grass field, so please ensure that your vehicle is suitable for the terrain.

What customers say

Awesome sea views & peaceful, roomy site, handy for Cayton Bay. Great base for exploring, good for solo travellers. BUT, not enough portaloos/showers, can be windy, no drinking water onsite. Still, folks wanna come back!

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Directions to the site was perfect, the gras was cut perfectly, everything kept clean, pitches marked out and that view is amassing.
Just a short walk to the beach that makes it perfect for taking the kids for a nice day out.
I would recommend this site strongly!

Unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked Perfect spot with great views. Had major fly issue first night but the owner popped over with some fly spray to help out.

Disliked We arrived on a Saturday afternoon. Extremely busy. Needs policing as not everyone stayed within their very large boundaries and found it difficult to find a space for ourselves. By next night we were able to move as a lot of people had left.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked The view is unbelievable. So gorgeous. Simple site which is what I like (there are simple cold showers outside the surf shack at the beach) but fab location near the beach and to access the local area and towns and stunning setting on the cliff top

Disliked We did appreciate there being some portaloos - def better than nothing! - and at best they’re always going to be slightly nasty and tricky to keep clean etc but two out of three were full to the top when we left so hope they were getting emptied soon for incoming campers 😅☺️

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Beautiful views and great location for Cayton Bay, with a good farm shop a short walk away. Lots of space and well maintained.

Disliked Only 3 portaloos for the whole campsite, a few more would of been good, however they were clean and checked regularly.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked The view was fab and it's a short walk down to the beach.

Disliked There were a lot of pitches and only 3 porter loos, 1 ended up out of order so only 2 in the end. It's just a pop up campsite so we knew it was limited facilities but it needs more toilets. We've stayed in a few of these pop up sites now but they've all been much better equipped than this one. There's also no drinking water on site so we had to buy bottled from the shop beforehand.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: The water is direct from the mains however our priority is to ensure customers safety, therefore we recommend bottled drinking water.

We comply with HSE recommendations regarding the number of toilets.

On this occasion one became faulty, the supplier has been informed and booked for a repair.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Lovely site with great views, particularly at sunset. Flat, spacious, quiet, no fuss. Super location for travel to different beaches. Some may dislike lack of showers and bins but it’s clearly noted and easily dealt with. Especially when you see a deer and rabbits first morning

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Great views, quiet location and a scenic walk to the beach. Communications from owners was handy in providing information to check in and how to find the site

Disliked We were under the impression pitches were clearly marked with orange sticks. We returned from a day out to find a camper van parked directly behind us despite pitches being available lower down the field. Only 3 toilets available and one was out of order for the majority of the weekend. 2 toilets wasn't enough for the number of people there.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Amazing views and quiet location

Disliked Not well manned, other campers parked there camper way two close

Only 3 toilets which was not enough for amount of campers

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Pitch sizes are very large.

If any other campers park too close please let us know so we can ask them to re locate.

We comply with HSE guidelines regarding the number of toilets - however point noted.
