What customers say
This adults-only spot's a cracker for a chill escape. Spotless, roomy amenities, friendly hosts, and primo country views. Great base for Pickering. Minor quibbles like shower fees and narrow access road were easily forgotten. Most keen to come back!

Excellent site, good location with friendly staff
Power optional concrete and grass motorhome site (no awning)
Liked Great pitches, very well maintained with hedges separating the pitches. Picnic benches on every pitch. Everything very clean and tidy. This is a very well laid out site and we were in a small back section of 4 pitches which suited us perfectly.
The staff are very friendly and informative.
Nice walk along the lane to get in to Pickering, took us 35mins to get to the centre
Disliked Limited showers, only one in each although nice and warm. Don’t have to wait too long to be fair but may be a problem if timing was wrong?

From the manager: Thanks for your review Mark
Interestingly you rate us 9/10 value for money ... we have 23 pitches only in beautifully landscaped grounds totalling nearly 3 acres. Caravan site operator's licensing allows upto 30 units per acre and therefore we could fill the park with 90 pitches but we choose to (at great cost to us) only have 25 pitches so everybody enjoys large pitches with great views and meticulously maintained open areas. You can pay a lot more for some campsites locally that are more akin to a car park!
Also, to set the record straight. we have 5 showers in 2 separate buildings. The new shower units opened in May costing £25,000 and showers are not obligatory for campsites with fewer than 70 pitches. According to standard UK campsite licensing guidelines, showers are only required to be installed once a site exceeds this threshold. For campsites that do provide showers, the standard licensing standard is 1 shower per 25 pitches
5 showers per 25 pitches therefore is incredibly generous and again provided at significant cost. Our 2 amenity blocks cost over £100k to build and , as above, we are not obliged to provide any
Excellent site easy to find great information on check in

From the manager: A review from a "mature couple"
Not so sure about that Sandra
Looking at your review history it seems you will never be happy with any campsite you book, barring one! We should give ourselves an overwhelming pat on the back for scoring 7!!
The showers have never been described by anyone as "disappointing" - we have 2 facility areas totalling 5 showers, 7 toilets and 7 wash basins for 25 pitches. Sites of <70 pitches do not have to provide showers!
The toilet block heating is on 24/7 as is the water. The digital thermostats are set to a minimum temperature of 18 degrees in the daytime and 16 degrees at night and therefore can never be described as freezing (the definition of which means turning to ice)
In terms of 230v plug sockets in the toilet - oh yes that's a great idea, wish we had thought of that, in reality electrocuting customers isn't good for business. 230v open socket in zone 1 /zone 2 - Building Regulations would love that, you moan but clearly have no idea about regulations.. Do you have 230v sockets in your bathroom at home ....er no thought not. Perhaps you should take your Motorhome back to your dealer if it isn't fitted with 230v sockets in which you can use your hair dryer
Showers were chargeable but from early May (and certainly during your stay) the cost has been incorporated into increased nightly costs and were free.
We are delighted you do not want to return, you brought about so much negativity during your stay and friendly parks like ours where customers return again and again simply do not need customers like you
Its a great shame Pitchup choose to allow your untruthful review to be posted on their website especially as campsites like us fund their business by way of paying the 15% commission for bookings received through their portal
Excellent facilities friendly warm welcome

Power optional concrete and grass motorhome site (no awning)
Liked Very well maintained site with large well spaced pitches. The owners made us feel very welcome. The mile loop walk around the farm, part of which is along the riverbank, was a nice addition. Ideal for spotting local wildlife. Loved seeing the alpacas too. Very tranquil site and ideal place for a chill out weekend. Amenities block was spotlessly clean. Showers nice and hot and although I would prefer non timed showers, considering the price paid for the pitch and the standard of facilities £1 was not unreasonable.

Liked The entire campsite is clean and well-maintained. The toilets are clean. There is plenty of space, and each pitch is large. There’s lots of greenery and birds singing. A wonderful fenced area for walking. The site is dog-friendly. Great service, and the owners are very helpful and always willing to assist.

Liked Lovely open air, quiet spot, very clean and tidy. Dog walks well laid out with plenty of dog poo bins. Nice sitting areas to watch the wildlife.
