  • Family-friendly camping field on an East Yorkshire country estate
  • A 15-minute drive from Withernsea beach and 35 minutes from Hull
  • Country walks nearby; half an hour’s walk to pubs, shops and bakeries
When it’s time for a family camping break, you’ll need somewhere peaceful with plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The tents-only site at Enholmes Meadow, five minutes’ drive or half an hour’s walk from Patrington in rural East Yorkshire, is just such a spot. With an elegant backdrop of historic Enholmes Hall, the camping field has only a handful of spacious pitches and plenty of acreage for kids and dogs to have a proper (and safe) run around. The site itself is something of a wildlife haven where you can spot wild orchids (in season), enjoy colourful sunrises or sunsets, and often catch sight of owls, deer and hares. You have lots of chances to enjoy time in nature too, whether you venture out on country walks directly from your pitch, drive to Withernsea (15 minutes) for some beachcombing, or go birdwatching in the Spurn National Nature Reserve (20 minutes). Back at base camp, facilities include modern loos and showers with bags of hot water. There’s also an informal club house (converted from stables), where you can get together for drinks. Trees line the camping meadow, providing helpful shelter if you fancy sparking up a barbecue – source baked goods and essentials in Patrington, or give up on the idea of alfresco catering and head to the village pub or chip shop instead.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked: Located in the grounds of a really cool old house, surround by mature trees. Flat grassy spacious pitches surrounded by nature - we watched a barn owl hunting over the meadow. Friendly and accommodating host - we were lucky to have the place to ourselves - and were apparently the first to visit! Very clean bathroom facilities - somewhere for washing up would be a good addition. Thank you!
