General
- Peaceful adults-only site 15 minutes’ walk from Swaffham town centre
- Castle Acre Priory ruins and Oxburgh Hall within 15 minutes’ drive
- Country walks accessible from the park’s grounds and dogs welcome
If you’re after a night or two in Norfolk with no nippers involved, embrace the sound of silence at Breckland Meadows Touring Park. An adults-only spot on the outskirts of Swaffham market town, this is a serene choice for a kid-free hol.
That’s not to say that other sorts of small guests aren’t invited… the site is dog-friendly, so you can pack the pups. Bring them along for walks in the local area; a gate at the park leads directly onto Swaefas Way, which takes you and your canine pal into the centre of the town in about 15 minutes. Set off on this manageable amble when you need to pick up supplies at one of the three local supermarkets or hit the pubs and restaurants.
If you’re more dedicated to strolling, continue on by linking up with Peddars Way – there’s miles of ground to cover, from forest to coast, and much of the route can be sped along by bike if you think you might want some pedal power to get you around.
Back at Breckland Meadows, pretty much everything you need to freshen up after a day’s adventuring is at the park, including an amenity block with heated showers. There’s also a laundry room with washing-up facilities, a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

Thank you for your review and glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Yes the F35's from Marham can be noisy when in training but are pretty good to watch when in formation. Hope to see you again. :) |

Local attractions
Kick off your East Anglian explores at Castle Acre Priory, a well-preserved monastic site (10 minutes' drive), moving on to Gooderstone Water Gardens & Nature Trail (10 minutes) next for ambles beside a natural trout stream, four ponds, 13 bridges and into a kingfisher hide.
Once you’ve spotted a bird or two, seek out some more at Thetford Forest Park (20 minutes), Britain’s largest lowland collection of pine trees, or get to Grime's Graves (25 minutes) for a glimpse of this prehistoric flint mine.
If you’re feeling fancy, set off towards Sandringham Estate (25 minutes) and stroll around some of the 20,000 acres surrounding Queen Elizabeth II’s country house, stopping off at the Sandringham Exhibition & Transport Museum to eye up the royal vehicles, precious ceramics and historical photos on display.
More knick-knacks are on show at the Thursford Collection (35 minutes), a series of steam engines and organs, and folk who’d rather admire animals instead of trinkets can make their way to Hunstanton’s SEA LIFE aquarium.
