  • Family park near the north Norfolk coast, three miles from Sheringham
  • Walkers' paradise with easy access to wide uncrowded beaches
  • Playground, clubhouse, lounge bar, family bar and shop
Take your wheels along for scenic stays in a peaceful coastal setting in a National Landscape at Woodlands Caravan Park, a smart modern site with stacks to do for all ages. When you’re not out and about venturing around the Norfolk coast and inland – famed Sheringham beach is three miles away from here and both Norwich and the Broads within easy reach for day trips – the park is a comfy base to keep all fed, watered and entertained. There’s a big and enclosed play area with climbing frames, swings and slides; the site also has plenty of room to run around if energy levels are still high afterwards. Options await when it’s time to refuel: a lounge bar for adults with an additional family area, and a clubhouse serving pizzas to eat in or take away (the bar also has regular entertainment on a Saturday night in peak season). The site shop sells groceries and ice cream as well as newspapers and camping bits and pieces; gas and electric barbecues are allowed (no charcoal constructions, ta). Amenities include a well-maintained shower and toilet block with disabled facilities, baby changing and underfloor heating. Woodland is firmly dog friendly too: your dogs can accompany you for a small additional fee. It's also based on a bus route, making transport easy.

Liked Nice quiet clean site, lovely toilet block, nice bar, close to Sheringham and Cromer and not far from Norwich. Take a visit to the shire horse sanctuary, it's free (donations) and there are many different types of animals rescued there, not just horses.

Disliked Unfortunately there was a rally the week we went which had taken every single pitch on the lower (flat) field, which meant we had to find a pitch on the upper field. Even with ramps, we were far from flat which made some things difficult - easier for touring caravans with jacks of course. But this was obviously not a normal situation, last year we pitched on the lower field which was perfect. It hasn't put us off this lovely site.

Exactly the type of site we don’t like. Just no character.

Liked Location. I was visiting a friend nearby. Hot showers.

Disliked Sloping pitches that weren’t defined (by hedges etc) Insistence of parking in a certain direction. We are a French built Motorhome so it was difficult to find a pitch where we weren’t facing a caravan awning. Soulless and geared to caravans and not motorhomes. Couldn’t find drive over grey waste disposal. We booked for two nights but left after one.

Liked Ease of checking in. Clean & spacious toilet & shower facilities. Quiet, especially as itappeared to be very busy.

Disliked Sloping pitches made levelling blocks essential, even then it was difficult.
Pitches seemed quite close together but we're not used to rows & rows of pitches

Liked Very good welcome with clear instructions on parking, very clean site including wash area and toilets .good showers .
Nice little bar for take away and eat in food very friendly. Could buy a few bits from the reception too.
Lots of places around to visit with short car journeys. Woods very close to walk the dogs.

Disliked Not much to dislike, our pitch was very much dry dirt but I suppose that’s more due to the weather. Lady was very strict about Jockey wheel having to be on the white slab but it was a very small slab.

Large, level pitches, immaculate facilities, friendly staff.

Liked There was absolutely nothing to dislike or complain about. Access was very easy from the road and there was a lovely cool drive through a wooded area to reception. We were greeted in reception by name! So we were impressed from the start. We were told we could find a spot which suited us which we did, very close to the immaculate facilities. The pitch we had was on grass with electric hook up, and the grass was well cut. There were many touring vans there but each space was large. We had 3 pages of information which included a site map and the drinking water was only yards away. Other taps were at regular intervals all round the site. The toilet block was fantastic. It was a large brick built building and contained multiple toilets, basins and showers. We have been on many good sites but this excelled! Everything was sparkling. There were 4 washing machines in a laundry room and there were places to wash up pots with very hot water. All round the site were woods so any road noise was blocked. In fact the whole site was very quiet and peaceful. There was a bar with outdoor seating with umbrellas and a shop. I would highly recommend this site on all the points I have mentioned but there is one other point- the price. We stayed 4 nights for £96 so that is £24 a night. We have stayed at places where it is a good £10 more with very basic facilities so Woodlands was most definitely top rate and an excelllent place to stay. Definitely 10/10

Local attractions

This handsome part of Norfolk is part of the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, home to swathes of uncrowded beaches for family days, dog walks, watersports and nature spotting. The closest beaches are Sheringham, 35 minutes' walk away, and Cromer (15 minutes' drive), both also home to historic seaside towns drawing visitors to Norfolk seaside hols since Victorian times. Birdwatchers and nature spotters are well placed too: species of all sorts can be spotted around the area as well as at Sheringham and Cromer. The National Trust’s Blakeney National Nature Reserve, 20 minutes’ drive away, is a fine spot to start your ornithological exploits, at its four miles of shingle, sand dunes, mudflats and salt marshes; also try birdwatching around the Cley Marshes (start at the visitor centre in Cley next the Sea, 15 minutes’ drive away), and the Salthouse Marshes a couple of miles east of Cley. For adventures further afield, the shopping, sightseeing, visitor attractions and restaurants of Norwich are 50 minutes away, and the waterways and more wildlife of the Broads within 40.
