  • Dog-friendly Norfolk site with relaxing fishing lakes and a woodland
  • Half an hour’s drive from Thetford Forest’s Go Ape and High Lodge
  • Catfish, carp, tench, silverfish and more over five well-stocked lakes
Anglers and adventurers, get ready, because Fendicks Fishery is a stunning Norfolk site with five well-stocked fishing lakes and a mature woodland, just half an hour’s drive from Thetford Forest. Out there, there’s plenty of adventuring to be done, with High Lodge and its Go Ape centre as a good starting point. There's a well-balanced atmosphere at this site, as the team have worked hard over the years to manage and landscape the grounds so that there’s a good combination of nature and fishing. Anglers have access to five lakes with a variety of fish up for grabs, including catfish (weighing in at over 95 lbs), carp, tench, silverfish and more. With 32 acres of mature woodland surrounding the lake, peaceful and scenic are two words that accurately Fendicks Fishery. Plus, there’s a splendid set-up in terms of facilities, with a toilet and shower block that’s kept toasty by underfloor heating, a washing-up area, washing machines, information room, Elsan points and the reception area. All the grassy pitches have access to electric hook-up (how handy). When you’re not unwinding around the acres of space around this well-kept site or spending an afternoon fishing, you could take off onto the miles of paths around Thetford Forest or head further out onto the Norfolk coast, which will take you around an hour’s drive or just over.

Spacious sites, spotless amenities, and a friendly vibe. Great value, handy bar/eats, and top fishing! Some noise/facility limits at busy times, but overall a ripper spot for a relaxed break.

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked The area and the atmosphere of the whole place was lovely. Everyone was lovely and the the bar and restaurant area was so cosy.

Despite us arriving when food was stopping serving the took our orders promptly, and it came out in no time at all. Delicious food, with generous portion sizes.

Everyone seemed to know each other so it had a really homely feeling.

Toilet/shower facilities very clean and evidently monitored regularly.

Disliked If I'm being really nitpicky, the area could have a better lighting system to navigate back to your camping areas. With one dim phone torch light between two people was quite difficult when the whole area was im complete darkness while coming back from the resturant.

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked Lovey flat pitches, very big and well spaced. Loads of pitches to choose from, some very close to the fishing lakes. Great to have a firepit. Nice clean showers, one older bock and one very new. All very clean. Others have complained about lighting on site at night, but you have to remember this site is a fishery first and foremost so light would affect night fishing. Having a bar and cafe on site is wonderful, the food was really nice and reasonably priced. I would recommend this site. Great Butchers in Downham Market, Goddard of Norfolk, lovely rib cap burgers.

Liked Very clean and tidy site, nice flat spacious pitches near to the fishing lakes. A plus having a cafe and bar on site, serving good food. Clean and well kept toilet and shower facilities. Power optional grass caravan site

Liked We stayed here for a motorcycle show with bands. and loved the location and layout of the site, we stayed in the Scrumpy field, toilets and shower block were an easy walk and always clean and well stocked. There is a cafe and bar/clubhouse on site both at reasonable prices. The Norfolk coast is only a 35 min drive.

Disliked Nothing.

Power optional grass tent site

Liked Very well kept site and reasonable priced. Camping pitches were a generous size. Staff were very friendly and Lisa gave us a lovely welcome when we checked in and gave us a good run down about the site and facilities.Unused electricity refunded on check out. Good clean facilities which were kept nice and warm and cleaned to a very good standard. Hubbles restaurant served lovely cooked food throughout most of the day and evening, they even do themed nights. They serve everything from a fantastic breakfast to a most enjoyable Sunday lunch (all of which we sampled). Rondos bar is a nice place to relax and enjoy a drink or two.
They have 5 fishing lakes (however the water level was low due to the long dry summer, so was out of Fendicks control). We did fish for 2 days and had a few catches. 2 of the lakes have to be booked so we didn’t try these out. We will definitely return as we had a really enjoyable and relaxing time. Fendicks also host various events throughout the year and whilst we were there they had the Wicked Wheelers bike show on over 2 days which was free of charge and we spent the weekend looking around it and listening to the live music .
Would definitely recommend this site as a good base for exploring north Norfolk as well.

Disliked Only one small thing , it would have been nice to have a plug in the washroom facilities so hairdryers and straighteners could be used whilst having access to the mirrors.

The Suffolk Horn cabin

Liked Super little one night stay. Easy to find and park and access the cabin. Warm dry comfy and cosy. Liked the picnic table outside and the microwave and kettle were much appreciated ( not in all shepherds huts you stay in) great WiFi even though it wasn’t mentioned in the info. Super little find would definitely stay again.

Disliked Would have liked something in the cabin to transport water with. Luckily I had my drinks bottle - otherwise not sure what I would have done.

Local attractions

Head to High Lodge (half an hour’s drive) to kickstart your tour of Thetford Forest. There are all sorts of ways to become one with the forest, from hiring out a Segway, taking an archery lesson or finding your zen with forest yoga. Go Ape Thetford (half an hour) will require a little bravery and some acrobatic skills for its treetop courses and zipwires, but on the ground, there are three cycling trails and four footpaths to follow from High Lodge. If you’re looking to find some places where the kids are likely to be entertained, Banham Zoo (35 minutes) is one such place, as are Melsop Farm Park (35 minutes) and Church Farm Stow Bardolph (15 minutes), two farm parks with a variety of animals and farm-style activities. A day at the coast is also possible from this site… just pick your seafront of choice. Perhaps Hunstanton (55 minutes) and Cromer (an hour and 20 minutes) to the north, or Great Yarmouth (an hour and 10 minutes) to the east? Towards the coast is Bressingham Steam & Gardens (40 minutes), a nice choice to see working steam locomotives in the flesh.
