  • Near Great Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads
  • Two parks in one: family-oriented and more quiet sections
  • Indoor and outdoor pools, gym, crazy golf, bar and restaurant
If you can’t decide whether to opt for an idle break or something a bit more lively, then have the best of both at Breydon Water Holiday Park, near Great Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads. It’s essentially two parks in one: the first is Yare Village, for those looking for an active, family-oriented vibe, with its toasty outdoor pool (open from May to September, weather permitting), crazy golf, and a buzzing schedule of sports, kids’ activities and evening entertainment. Just 10 minutes’ walk away is the more sedate Bure Village, where there’s an indoor pool and a fully-equipped gym. The site also has wifi in the Waterside bar and restaurant.

What customers say

A great family campsite near Burgh Castle with heaps to do! Staff are super friendly. Sites are pretty spacious, but some reckon the showers are a bit old and could be cleaner. Push-button showers and occasional noise were mentioned.

Liked We brought the grandchildren for a short 2 night break.

They liked the outdoor swimming pool and the go carts.

We liked that the park area was nice and secure for the kids.

We liked that there was a nice walk with nice views to take the dog.

There is a supermarket a short drive from the site.

We liked that the site is dog friendly.

There is a nice room with sinks to wash your pots in.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

Disliked Although there are notices across the park saying dogs should be kept on leads, we saw several that weren’t. We saw dogs wandering around and toileting with no owner to notice let alone pick it up after them. We own a very anxious dog so this was a big problem for us.

The showers were the worse I have come across on a campsite. It’s great that you don’t have to put money in them, but you have to stand and push hard to hold the button to get any water. As soon as you take your hand off, the water stops. It makes a relaxing wash and hair washing practically impossible. It also meant that the kids couldn’t manage alone.

I paid £3.15 for a bottle of water which I thought was overly expensive. That said, the food was pretty good.

Liked Proximity to Burgh Castle and the river for Crabbing….

Disliked The site was a complete dive. Over camped pitches that were just dust, very hard stony ground, pitches very close together bordering on dangerous. Showers and toilets disgusting and showers push button so you had to hold the button down. Outdoor pool flooring was loose sharp stone which was then in the bottom of the pool. Noisiest site I’ve ever been on with screaming kids and swearing adults until 1am. Reception couldn’t have cared less. Food and drink on site were crazy money, they gave you an information pack with 2-4-1 coffee vouchers but these weren’t redeemable on this site. No shop on site unless you walk up the road to the other site. Tried to book swimming to be told it was just a “turn up” event, but when we turned up were told we had to book. Will 10000000% avoid this site at all costs.

Liked The outdoor swimming pool and the way the lifeguards interacted with families.

The friendly attitude of staff in general.

The size of the pitches.

Decent amount of entertainment.

The cleanliness of the kitchen and bathroom areas, as well as the number of sinks and shower cubicles.

Closeness to Great Yarmouth beach.

Disliked Arrival information stating no gazebos when plots were big enough for these and being used by some.

Very short shower heads that involved standing with your forehead close to the wall to wash.

Level of noise by some campers that seemed to be acceptable for the site.

Liked The shower block was clean
The staff in The Boat House Restaurant were fantastic, always very helpful and accommodating.

Disliked Bingo was a bit expensive. I don't like linking up to all the other venues, much less chance of winning even though the prize money is better.

Liked Not a lot!

Disliked Site for tourers appears scruffy, wrong numbers on pitches. Showers have to hold button in to get water, no timer on it. Chemical waste area, yuck.

Liked The staff were really nice except ones on breakfast service, the facilities were okay

Disliked When checking in the staff were quite rude and expected me to know everything when I’d never been there, I asked to take beans and mushrooms off my breakfast but wasn’t offered a substitute when I mentioned toast that was extra, the pitch was awful next to the bins and football which was in use until midnight and with young children wasn’t ideal hearing non stop swearing all night

Liked Entertainment was brilliant and the whole complex was great for the kids. Swimming pool was good and heated so kept kids happy. Great size pitch and close to everything we needed.

Disliked Showers are on a push button which is ok but the shower head barely comes out the wall so you end up pressed up against the wall trying to get wet and hold button. Water was nice and hot tho.
Be aware the site is split into two sites . One has outdoor pool and one has indoor pool. Just a little walk down road. Although where we was we had everything apart from the shop which is on other site.

Local attractions

Great Yarmouth, a short drive away, has masses of attractions – too many to list here, but to give you an idea: the Sea Life aquarium, the exhilarating indoor circuit at Karting 2000, mini choo-choos and tiny townsfolk at Merrivale Model Village and Gardens, and the Elizabethan House Museum, where visitors can don Tudor fashions and find out what life was really like below stairs for Victorian scullery maids. There are more than 50 acres of adrenaline rides, plus parrot and sea lion shows and an Alpine chair lift at Pleasurewood Hills in Lowestoft. For those seeking more genteel pursuits, also near Lowestoft is Somerleyton Hall, a Tudor-Jacobean pile with pleasure gardens and a maze, home to the Crossley Carpets dynasty. Drive a little further and you can explore the wetlands and waterways of the Norfolk Broads, or head south to gorgeous Southwold and Aldeburgh in Suffolk.
