Pitches

  • Small and simple off-grid site at a Staffordshire farm
  • Stoke-on-Trent 20 minutes' drive; 25 minutes to Alton Towers
  • Free-range hens and ducks on site; views over the site's orchard
If you like to open up your tent in the morning and see views of trees and farm animals rather than lots of other tents, take a look at Orchard View Campsite. This small Staffordshire site only has a handful of pitches, so your neighbours are likely to be the resident free-range chickens and ducks rather than a large number of other guests. The other thing you’ll be able to see is the small orchard next to the camping area – still in its infancy but a lovely backdrop nonetheless. In keeping with these chilled-out surroundings, the off-grid site is a simple setup with some outdoor log seating, a cold water supply and an indoor toilet as the only facilities. Keeping guest numbers low means there should always be space to relax in – and the low-key facilities mean low light pollution, and therefore often some quiet special night sky views. The location of this site should be a winner too – it's a thoroughly rural spot with lots of walks around and urban facilities not too far away in either Uttoxeter or Stoke-on-Trent (both 15-20 minutes' drive away). The closest pubs are a couple of miles away, and there are plenty of ways to fill your days – including days at the races, thrill rides at Alton Towers, pottery museums and gin tours among other things.

Unpowered grass tent site (no pets)

Liked What a great site. James was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. He explained his future vision for the site as it's in in infancy.
When you pay £12 for a night on a site and bear in mind James only receives £10.20 of this. How could you complain. It's a back to basics site. Small number of pitches. Cows in field behind. Hens and other birds wonder last your tent. People comment that there is only 1 toilet. But as a person who needs to go often this was not a problem at all. Always managed to go when needed. The pitches all have a free firepit. Just purchase logs from James. Also what a guy, so friendly and good to chat too. I dint realise you couldn't park car next to tent. This wasn't an issue, James provided a huge wheel barrow to get your stuff to the pitch. Also sorted me with a few beers after I ran out. Will definitely be going again. And looking forward to seeing the progress. Thanks for a great camp!

Liked Beautiful scenery. Ducks/chickens wandering around. Wonderful pitches. Great set up with wildflowers and trees very thoughtfully put together and clearly Jamie the owner is passionate about improving the biodiversity of the site which is to be commended. Great toilet. Jamie also an excellent friendly host. VERY short walk to the pitch unsure what the previous reviewer was on about I carried all my gear (a lot) in one go solo.

Unpowered grass tent site (no pets)

Liked Our very first family camping trip couldn’t have been more perfect! 🌿✨

Waking up to the sounds of cows, sheep, and chickens nearby was such a lovely experience, and the clear starry skies at night were absolutely breathtaking with no light pollution, just endless stars. ⭐️

James was incredibly welcoming, meeting us on arrival and showing us around so we knew exactly where everything was. The car park was only a short walk from the pitch, and although we carried most of our things ourselves, the wheelbarrow he kindly lent us was a huge help for the heavier bits!

A special touch was being able to buy fresh chicken eggs from James for breakfast too 🥚

Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better first camping experience as a family. Peaceful, friendly, and unforgettable! We’ll definitely be back! ⛺️💛

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked I was greeted by the friendly site owner James and was shown the orchard he planted a few years ago which is in the camping field. This consists of Apple, Walnut and Kiwi trees and will look impressive when the trees mature. It was good watching the gang of friendly free range chickens, duck and guinea fowl happily roaming the camp field. Located in a scenic area and ideal for cycling and walking as there are plenty of quiet lanes and nearby footpaths. Various supermarkets are also within ten miles. The site is in the early stages of evolving and I am sure will be very successful. Well done to James and shout out to his lovely dog Ruby.

Liked The site is well maintained, very clean, spacious pitches over looking the field / farm house. there is a stone fire pit per pitch, there is tree stump seating, which is great additions per pitch. There is a water area. Toilet on site. i felt extremely safe there as a solo female traveler. it is also dog friendly :-) the owner James is lovely, and very helpful and friendly. They sell free range eggs, beautiful.
it is in a peaceful location. away from hustle and bustle. highly recommended.
