  • Family-run dog-friendly farm site in Cropredy village
  • A 20-minute drive to British Motor Museum; 40 mins to Blenheim Palace
  • Wood-fired pizzas on busy weekends; a short walk to pubs and cafés
Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of navigating little country lanes? Set off to Oxfordshire and The Old Dairy Farm Caravan and Camping: getting here involves a mere 10-minute detour from the M40 at Banbury. That location makes this a most handy spot for motorway stopovers, but there’s plenty around to please those who choose to stay longer too. However long you stay at this family-run farm, you’ll not want to miss out on meeting the pygmy goats and free-range chickens and peering into the aviary; once the kids have done that, send them off for a proper run about on the large recreational field to tire them out before bedtime. Handy too are the smart and well-maintained facilities, including a toilet block, showers, a washing-up area, water supply and Elsan point. The wood-fired pizza oven gets going on busy weekends (and it’s also available for private hire if you’re having a gathering). Don’t worry if there’s no pizza action while you’re here: it’ll take just a few minutes to walk to Cropredy’s pubs, cafés and shop (or its play park). It’s also possible to walk to the Oxford Canal and River Cherwell for waterside wanders, and a short drive will get you out into the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for more walks, plus golf courses, fishing lakes and National Trust estates. In the main this is a peaceful site, but it's worth noting that a rail line passes fairly close by so you may hear a bit of noise from the pitches (or even spot trains – much to the delight of young rail enthusiasts).

What customers say

Fair dinkum family spot! Plenty of room, chilled vibes, and legends for staff. Animals are a cracker, kids love the play stuff. Train noise is nbd for most. Could do with more loos when it's busy, and a bit of TLC on older loos, but new ones are coming. Top value site!

Liked Nice little campsite situated near a really nice village. Facilities all ok and staff were friendly. Service taps located behind the pitches for easy access to water.
Toilets and showers were all ok.
An easy drive to the site through the village (no narrow lanes etc).

Even with the snow and -0 temperatures all facilities continued to operate normally causing no issues to people holidaying on site.

We would return 👍🏼

6-amp powered grass site

Liked The site was good for kids it had a play area plus animals to keep them busy and entertained, also there was a busy train track next to the site which would of been nice for the train spotters 🤣

Disliked The toilets wasn't the cleanest with no hot water to wash your hands, and showers was terrible in my opinion also there was no were we could wash up for the time of year we was there, so they need to work on catering for hot water on this site has the site is open all year around.

From the manager: There is hot water in wash up areas and toilets - not sure why there was an issue - no one else has had one and they are working when I checked. Maybe ask a member on site before writing a review?

Toilets are cleaned daily - even with only a few on site! Obviously more regularly when busy.

Showers are electric power showers, with no timers. They are the higher
KW version too. Get regular positive feedback on them.

Wash up is next to the Elsan - again with hot water.

Again maybe ask a member of staff before writing an inaccurate review.

Given the time of year and…

6-amp powered grass site

Liked Given the time of year and season, we enjoyed how spacious it was, if you love trains, you'll enjoy the trains that pass, we didn't mind them one bit. The kids also enjoyed interacting with the goats for hours and loved playing in the play area.

Disliked Slight bit of confusion on arrival although sign posted to go to reception for check in, we went to reception no one there and no real sign to contact anyone, luckily found a number on there on site shop to call and got sorted. We was told the owners wasnt there and they was looking after the place for them.
We couldnt do our washing up, there was no hot water at the area provided.
Also no hot water in the toilets to wash your hands, toilet facilities are important to us and its what we look for when booking. They wasnt the best nor the worst, cleanliness wasnt great and the locks on the doors weren't working and getting stuck.
The thing that ruined our stay the most was someone (which we assumed was a member of staff) telling us at 10pm that we was being too loud on new years eve?! We read the rules and knew its meant to be quiet time at certain hours but given the day it was and also everyone else making noise we didnt really know we was doing anything wrong.
We was watching our favourite YouTuber doing his flog off a projector which was connected to a speaker, however it was no louder than people talking? When asked we did disconnect the speaker but put a right downer on the night. Everyone else was still drinking outside there vans laughing/chatting enjoying new years eve where for some reason we found we were singled out? There was no one else really by us. If we was being anti social and causing a nuisance id be the first to apologise and admit. Even though we didnt think we was in the wrong we still obliged and was respectful. This just ruined our stay and for that reason we wouldnt return or recommend.

From the manager: Check in, says report to reception - reception door clearly states the number to call. Only a few on site during winter so unaffordable to staff as we would in peak times.

This time of year staff would only ask you to respectful of your neighbours if we get a complaint. Unfortunately large amounts of alcohol can alter your reality of the situation! The rules are no amplified music after 9pm - you've clearly stated you were breaking the rules, and yet upset when politely asked not too?

Camping is a community affair and as such you need to be respectful of others.

Liked The location is perfect and scenery stunning. The staff are very friendly and the campsite itself is ideal, Unfortunately the kitchen and bar was closed as we went out of season. The site was very quiet. You do have trains passing right alongside and the Crowing Rooster - But for us this just added to the lovely atmosphere.

Disliked The showers were not great, Not much pressure and some wouldn’t heat up, Nowhere to put dry clothes etc. The facilities however very clean.

Local attractions

Coming to the Cotswolds for a bit of fresh air and gentle activity? Set forth for fishing at Clattercote Reservoir, or tee off at Cherwell Edge Golf Course; both are about 10 minutes away by car. Country walking routes are plentiful too, of course, as are fine buildings to mooch around. Blenheim Palace (40 minutes’ drive) is perhaps the best known of all the Oxfordshire stately homes (and with good reason, for ’tis fab) but it’s worth taking a look at some others too, including Farnborough Hall (10 minutes), Sulgrave Manor (20 minutes) and Upton House and Gardens (20 minutes). For a break from the classic Cotswolds activities, head out to meet the big birds of Fir Tree Falconry (15 minutes) or sigh over all the shiny machines at the British Motor Museum (20 minutes). And if you’re in need of a tipple or two to accompany your barbecue back at base, there are some excellent local ones to be acquired at Hook Norton Brewery (25 minutes) and the Cotswolds Distillery (half an hour).
