There really is no need to veer far from the water when checking out other sights in Nottinghamshire: the Attenborough Nature Reserve a 25-minute drive away, for example, are where to go for birdwatching from specially set up hides in the wetlands. See sand martins and starlings here then head to Colwick Country Park (25 minutes) for cycle rides beside the River Trent or travel further (an hour onwards) to amble through the trees in Robin Hood's home of Sherwood Forest.
