Shelduck (area 2) powered grass site

Liked: We liked the ability to pitch the tents and vans together to make a campsite where the kids could run around without fear of going into the road. The swimming is decent, aside from half the lockers not working and it being a 45minute session only. The new event area is very good, it’ll be interesting to see how the outside area fairs during the winter months/wetter periods. Parks aren’t complete, but they’re looking like they will be very much enjoyed by children.

Disliked: The common areas are surprisingly unclean, and the upkeep hadn’t been done. The park is under relatively new ownership and promised large changes and adaptations to the park which have happened; but unfortunately they’re just not keeping on top of cleaning or repairs. Many cans of beer were littered around the park, cigarette butts could be found all over the park and in common areas. Toilet doors were missing locks, toilet roll dispensers were broken and missing the fronts, toilet seats were also missing/broken in the campsite toilets. The arcade has a lot of different games, all giving out tickets to get very rubbish gifts, but the kids love it.

From the manager: Thank you for sharing such detailed feedback about your stay we are glad to hear you enjoyed the flexibility of setting up your campsite and that the children had a safe space to run around. It’s also great to know you appreciated the new event area and swimming facilities, despite the minor issue with the lockers. We truly apologize for the cleanliness and maintenance issues you encountered, this is certainly not the standard we aim to provide, and we are taking your comments seriously. We appreciate your understanding as we continue to improve the park under new management, and we hope to offer a more polished experience on your next visit. Thank you again for your valuable feedback.

Liked: Absolutely perfect, staff very courteous and the facilities were spot on. Going again next weekend as it was that good. A visit to the Quays pub just outside the camp is a must, £7 carvery was lovely but booking for Sunday or you won’t get in. All in all 10/10 😊

Super Pitch fully-serviced gravel and concrete site

Liked: Great site. Great entertainment for the children even outside of school holidays..... warm pool, daytime entertainment, kids loved the skate park! I'll definitely return and stay longer as didn't get chance to do all water sports as only a 2 night stay

Disliked: Would be great to have an enclosed dog field as nowhere to let dogs off for a good run which is needed when being kept on a lead.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review we are so happy to hear that you and the children enjoyed the entertainment, warm pool, and skate park—sounds like a fun-filled stay! It’s fantastic to know you’re already planning to return and stay longer to try out the water sports. We appreciate your suggestion about an enclosed dog field we will certainly take that into consideration as we work to enhance the experience for all our guests, including our four legged friends. Looking forward to welcoming you back soon!

Liked: The facilities were brilliant and was amazed at the space on the pitches. Husband was able to try his new hobby of fishing too. A lot of the things were closed in the week possibly as slightly out of season but livened up at the weekend when lots of families arrived. Loads to do for families and lovely to see all the children playing on and around the fields. Walks around the lakes were beautiful.

Disliked: Wasn’t clear when the toilet and shower block was closed. Husband went to have a shower and power went off apparently every day at 12 but we hadn’t been informed of this.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review we are thrilled to hear you enjoyed the spacious pitches, and that your husband got the chance to try out his new fishing hobby. It's great that the weekend atmosphere and family activities added to your experience, and we’re glad you enjoyed the beautiful lakeside walks as well. Liked: The water and the wildlife

Disliked: Lack of information given out to find the pitch by reception, also when I did find it it was occupied. It seems some visitors are told to find a pitch where I was given a pitch number which was also hard to see

Shelduck (area 3) powered grass site

Liked: Really liked the booking in process, quick and easy with nice staff. Well mapped out for the novice map reader. Not assigned a particular pitch, first come first served basis, which is nice. Lots of Room around pitches, with lots of choice with the style of pitch. Well priced. Really well priced. Well stocked shop not to far from anywhere in the grounds. A great wee train to hop on and off. Choice of eating venues. All in all, after my first visit as it was, we will return for more visits. I should also mention the great showers. Entertainment was first class, blues brothers & fire dancing lady were excellent, staff all seemed happy and helpful. Drinks also reasonable.

Disliked: Drivers not sticking to the speed limit. Not the parks fault, just people.

Shelduck (area 3) powered gravel and concrete site

Liked: NOTHING!

Disliked: Just about everything! The staff were generally uninterested. While booking, and at reception we requested to be sited close to toilets if possible, as we are both disabled. We needed to fill up with water on arrival, we asked a member of staff where we could do this, and they didn't appear to know. The site definitely doesn't appear to be set up with motorhomes in mind, as when we did eventually find the water supply, we had to block the road to fill up. There was nowhere to empty grey water, and the toilet disposal point didn't have a hose for rinsing. When we eventually found our plot, which wasn't easy, we had been sited 3 rows back from the toilet block, even though there were empty pitches closer. However, this didn't really matter, because the toilet block was out of order anyway, and when we complained, we were told it had been like this for 'a long time!' With our disabilities, we could just about manage the walk to the toilet/shower block which was out of order, but couldn't manage the one we were directed to use instead! This meant that we would be forced to use our onboard facilities, which we prefer generally only to use for liquid purposes, and as one of us had an upset tummy at the time, this was far from ideal. We had booked for 3 nights, but having found that the site really wasn't suited to our disabilities, spoke to reception, and were told that we could park on the grass nearer the toilets, even though we'd paid for hardstanding, but as our vehicle weighs in excess of 4 tonnes, we weren't prepared to risk getting stuck in mud if it rained, so in the end I asked if we could check out and get a refund for the remaining 2 nights. This was agreed, but with a bad grace, and I ended up having to phone back twice after leaving the site, to organise this, because the receptionist couldn't find the correct form!!

From the manager: I sincerely apologize for the disappointing experience you had with us this is not the standard we aim to provide for our guests. Rest assured, we will take your feedback seriously and share it with the relevant team members to ensure improvements are made.
