Set midway between the eastern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds and the sandy beaches of Sutton-on-Sea, The Old Barn Retreat is a peaceful adults-only park for touring caravans located just outside the traditional village of Markby. With spacious pitches, big open skies and well-maintained grounds, this is a prime spot to spend a few days in the great outdoors. The site has a number of handy amenities, including a central decking area with picnic tables, a large facilities block with clean toilets and showers and a chemical waste disposal point. The Old Barn Retreat is a safe spot, with a secure entrance gate and lots of privacy. There are also ornamental features, including a fish pond. Staying here during the summer season? A local fish and chip van pulls up at The Old Barn Retreat every week during the peak season to bring tasty chip shop favourites to guests. At other times, it's easy to take yourself down to the pub at Alford (10 minutes' drive) or Sutton-on-Sea (five minutes), where there are also food shops, takeaways and a range of restaurants.

Liked: Peace and tranquility. Well kept facilities and pleasant surroundings. Fish & chip van visit on Wednesday. I had an issue with my caravan when exiting site. (Coupling became detatched) The on-site cleaning staff were very helpful assisting me to source parts that I needed from local supplier. Paul, the site owner had seen my problem on remote cameras and attended site to offer assistance/help. Support could not have been any better. Paul came across as a very nice guy and gave me an overview of his future plans for the site.

Disliked: Nothing

Liked: A lovely quiet and friendly site. Well maintained, with a spotlessly clean toilet and shower block. The fish and chips from the van on Saturday night were a real bonus. The warden and owners were extremely helpful and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

Disliked: Not a lot to dislike. The ground was very soft due to the weather. It could get quite muddy if the rain continues.

Liked: Really lovely site. Even though there were only 2 toilets & 1 shower, we never had an issue with waiting. Great shower & we happily paid £1 per shower for a lovely hot shower, not interrupted by having to press a button every 20 seconds. Washing up area & elson point very clean & very hot water. Very level pitch & a pleasant seating area in the middle for people to sit, chill with a beer & enjoy a fish pond. Large dog walk area. Each pitch was very spacious. Great Wi-Fi accessible from every pitch. Great area for cycling as whole area very flat Thank you Paul & Lisa for a great stay :)

Disliked: Not particularly good for direct walks out from the site. There’s a short walk on an A road to a quieter lane, although not overly busy, not ideal as have to walk in thicker grass to get off the road.

Liked: Welcoming hosts, great quiet location, the flat grass pitch (no trouble with tent pegs), spotless facilities & excellent Wi-Fi.

Disliked: Small hand basins and nowhere to wash really. Either have a shower or wash in the open toilet area.

Liked: If you want an intimate, quiet & beautifully maintained site this is for you. The owners, Lisa and Paul have created a little gem here with manicured large-sized private pitches and fabulous centre area of seating with feature pond and plants to greet and meet the few neighbours or sit and watch the fish, all located less than 10 mins to beach by car. Very friendly and accommodating hosts who extended our stay no trouble. Security gates make you and your possessions feel safe and facilities for washing up, shower, toilet blocks were spot on with a bonus of an area to walk the dogs too. Recommend Farmer Browns ice-cream place 5 mins away. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely break. Angie & Kevin
