This was our second stay at Sheperds Views, Holmrook. We liked friendly staff who greeted us by name. A well laid-out site. Generous pitches (not cramped). Good washing-up facilities. Great modern wet-rooms (closed at quieter times). Very good shower/toilet facilities in the barn. Camp has electronic gate with pin code access. Good site rules regarding visitors, noise levels, control of children and pets etc.

We stayed for 11 nights and we found that during the week the site, like the location, is quieter mid week than at the weekends. We stayed over the August Bank Holiday, and as expected the camp filled up for that time. Noise levels increased but in our corner everyone respected the camp rules. We never had to wait long to use the facilities so the number of facilities seems to be about right for the size of the site. We did not witness any free-loader campers as we have seen on other sites and put this down to the site access gate.

Staff clean the facilities daily and replace toilet paper etc.

The site has a small shop where you can buy or rent essentials you may have forgotten. We forgot some of our tent-pegs and were able to buy some from the shop at a reasonable price. The shop also sells logs for the fire-pit and rents wind-breaks, BBQs etc.

The site is located on the Drigg road about half way between the A595 and Seascale. There are a couple of roads that run down to the wild beach passed the LLW site. The beach and Seascale are a walkable distance but the road is a country lane with no footpath. For those who do not know it, Seascale is a quite beach town that has not been commercialised as other British seaside towns have. There is an Ice Cream Parlour which sells the excellent Mawsons ice cream and a chippy that is very popular and great quality at reasonable prices (you'll pay a lot more in Ambleside). There is a Co-Op where you can get supplies and an old-fashioned hardware/iron monger store. If you're into BMXing, Seascale has an excellent BMX track. Going inland the site is a 10 mile drive to the highest mountain in England with some spectacular scenery and opportunities to bike, hike and wild swim.

I don't think there was anything we disliked that could not be put down to other users. Not everyone uses the mop and squeegy provided at the facility, not everyone unclogs the sink after washing up etc, but these are minor issues that the site staff have little to no control over.

Toilets and bathrooms were immaculate, welcomed nicely and hospitality was great.

Amazing welcome from the owners. Loved the dog exercise area, animals on the site kept the kids entertained. Lovely pitch and fantastic toilet and shower blocks.
Five stars from us all - Mum, Dad, three children aged 12, 8 and 6 plus a sprocker spaniel.

Great friendly staff, wonderful greeting and always happy to talk. Pitch size good, also good shop with variety of camping needs catered for. No great queues for loos or showers.

My wife isnt a lover of unisex loos and showers so bit unhappy, although the new block had individual shower/sink/loos (however out of loo roll on several occasions).

Only main complaint was if you are going to advertise heated shower blocks then turn the heating on (even if it was summer), radiators stone cold every time we entered the showers so towels cold also.

Fantastic stay yet again at Shepards View (this was our 4th visit) So much so we decided to stay an extra night! Julie, Stephen and all of the girls are fantastic hosts, very accommodating, the site is very well maintained and the shower/toilet facilities are always kept very clean, highly recommended! See you all again soon

Great family site, boys enjoyed fires every night and the animals. Little on site shop was very handy but close enough to local supermarkets etc.

The pitch with hard standing and grass for the awning was great for coming and going in the van through the week. Location was excellent for us great little walk to the empty beach! Also an easy stroll up the beach to seascale and the local shop . Great shower block and toilets and very welcoming and helpful staff.

Not really a dislike but it can get a bit windy due to being close to the coast but some good windbreaks did the trick
