Want a place that’ll really get the wind in your sails? Alicante seaside site Camping Los Patos is on a part of the Valencian Community coast that’s well known for its sea breezes – and for that reason it’s a particularly popular pick with people seeking out windsurfing and kitesurfing spots.
The frisky breeze isn’t the only thing that brings folk along here though – there’s also the fine sands of Les Deveses beach a few minutes’ stroll away, and plenty of other activities including golf and horse riding within a kilometre. If you’ve got sights set a little further afield, try out trips to Gandia, Xàbia and Dénia, or head to buzzy Benidorm (35 minutes’ drive away) for stacks of family activities.
Back at base, there’s a bathroom block with showers where you can hose off any sand and sea salt you’ve acquired during the day, baby baths to clean up the tiddlers, and a launderette to deal with your togs. Self caterers can pick up supplies at the site supermarket ahead of an evening by the barbecue, and there’s also a restaurant and bar for those who’d like to delegate responsibilities or need cool drinks to sip.
Holidaying with a hound in tow? Feel free to bring them along to Los Patos – four-legged pals are most welcome to join you for a stay at this site.

Intrigued by the idea of kitesurfing? Get a helping hand to get started at the watersports centre 20 minutes’ walk away in Molinell, or sign up for paddleboarding if you’d like something a little calmer. A riding centre, go-karting circuit and golf course are in the resort as well.
For day trips nearby, head to Dénia (15 minutes’ drive) to wander around the seafront castle, scoot over to Xàbia (20 minutes) for boat trips along the coast or aim for Gandia (30 minutes) to take a gander at the museums in the Old Town. There are stacks of family-pleasing attractions over in Benidorm (35 minutes) too: Terra Mitica theme park, Aqualandia waterpark and the dolphins of Mundomar are all popular picks.
If you’re setting sights a little further afield, venture to Valencia in around an hour and 10 minutes for a day at the City of Arts and Sciences and a wander through the squares of the Old Town, or grab your party outfits and board a boat to Ibiza from Dénia (15 minutes).
