Camping De Valderredible

They do reckon it's an immensely good area of northern Spain… Camping Valderredible is in an area of hiking, outdoor sports, spectacular scenery and ancient heritage, all easily reachable from the site. Outdoor activities like rafting, canyoning, canoeing, bungee jumping and climbing are available nearby. Prehistoric caves and menhirs are among the ancient sights to see in the region, along with Romanesque and cave churches like the Collegiate Church of San Martin and the eighth century Cave church of Santa Maria de Valverde, next to a medieval cemetery. The Cave of Altamira near Santillana del Mar is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its Upper Paleolithic cave paintings. Within half an hour are scenic highlights like forest and waterfall hikes around Mount Hijedo, the biggest wooded area in northern Spain and the second biggest in the country; and the 50 or so kilometres of paths along the Ebro river. If you prefer more formal trails to tramp along, try the Cantabrian stretch of the 1,280km GR-99, which joins up on part of its route with the old section of the Camino de Santiago. The Astronomical Observatory of Cantabria is ten minutes' drive away.
